ESP LTD EC-1000 Duncan Electric Guitar Black Satin

The ESP LTD EC-1000 Duncan is a solid-body electric guitar primed to push the boundaries of modern rock and metal. Powered by Seymour Duncan JB '59 humbuckers and a resonant mahogany body with set-through construction, the EC-1000 Duncan delivers truckloads of sustain and a feisty tone that cuts through any mix. A smooth ebony fingerboard hosts 24 extra-jumbo frets, providing a fast playing feel and easy access to every note. Now available at Guitar Center, the EC-1000 Duncan is ready to take center stage.
Seymour Duncan Humbuckers Shape a Formidable Sonic Arsenal
The Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup unleashes a snarling, aggressive tone that tackles modern high-gain styles with ease. The '59 neck pickup balances things out with a grumbling low end and hint of chime—perfect for thick rhythm chords and creamy solos. A three-way selector switch lets you blend these pickups for a range of tones, from vintage grit to contemporary crush.
Set-Through Mahogany Construction Provides Exceptional Resonance
The EC-1000 Duncan's mahogany body resonates fully, with set-through construction allowing vibrations to travel unimpeded from neck to body. An arched top adds comfort, while dual cutaways offer unhindered fretboard access. This single-cut design yields epic sustain that lends power to your performance.
Fast, Low-Action Ebony Fingerboard
A smooth Macassar ebony fingerboard hosts 24 extra-jumbo frets, providing a slick playing feel and easy access to every note. Its modern radius is tailored for low action and highly technical playing styles. Rapid runs, wide bends and complex chords are executed with speed and precision.
Precision Components Provide Rock-Solid Performance
A TonePros bridge and tailpiece provide adjustable intonation for chords that ring true, while LTD locking tuners ensure slip-free tuning stability—ideal for live performance and studio work. With components built for precision, the EC-1000 Duncan delivers a high level of playability that truly inspires confidence.

Fantastic guitar
I picked up a used EC-1000 in vintage black with gold hardware and passive Seymour Duncan pickups. I cleaned it up and restrung with 11-56 strings for D tuning. I had to make a minor truss Rod adjustment. Everything is easy with this guitar; locking tuners, 24 jumbo frets, simple controls, smooth feeling neck joint with access to high frets, perfect balance when wearing a strap, thin neck, but not too thin, classy looking multi ply binding, nice inlays even the first fret like a LP custom. Nice resonant sound, pickups are perfect for hard rock, blues, metal… whatever you could want to play, this guitar will do the job. I like that it has two volumes. I also got an ESP fitted case and it's an awesome case that holds the guitar firmly in place and the storage holds a strap, and cable no problem. (Try that in a Gibson case). I love Gibson Les Pauls but I have to admit this guitar plays and sounds just as well at a much better price.

I wasn't a fan
I got this axe used so as I post this review keep in mind my experience might be different than a brand new one. So on paper this guitar sounded awesome to me, it looked great, it has good pickups, nice price. Well, I got it and I think these EC-1000's aren't for me. I wasn't a fan of the neck, it felt too small for my hands, I didn't enjoy the humbuckers tones, I wasn't a fan of the material used to make the axe it just felt cheap to me unfortunately. I think I'm just more use to my fenders so maybe that could be it. Overall, it still is a nice guitar, it's just not for me. I thought I would make it my metal guitar and it looked so cool, but once I played it I almost immediately knew I'd have to look for a different one. Anyway, I'm sure there are others that will disagree with me and that's ok, at the end of the day it's all personal preference.

Great looks, great tone, rock gigs, tight intonation, that's what she said. Awesome satin finish makes chord changes a slick breeze. Locking tuners, like when does the goodness end? It doesn't bc all this for way less than a Gibson price plus you get coil splitting tones.
Great quality for the price.

I played one in a store and was instantly hooked. The action was so low and buttery. I finally bought one. I'm not a luthier so I don't know how to get my action as low. The sustain on this thing is outrageous. The pickups are hot as you'd want or you can back them off and get that vintage sound. I'd recommend this to anyone wishing they had a Les Paul but is afraid of the Gibson quality control. The description says not could split, but mine splits. Not sure if it's a listing error or if they changed them. Go play one and check it for yourself. Oh, she's heavy as a brick.
