Description

The Engl Fireball 25 25W tube guitar amp is a two-channel, low-wattage beast that's great for a wide range of uses.

The Clean channel offers chime shimmering cleans and is smoothly breaking up at noon gain settings and higher. At higher gain settings, you can get all the chime shimmering crunch sounds out of this channel.

The Lead channel starts where the Clean channel ends and offers a sheer endless amount of gain. This channel is perfect to play any style of Rock and Metal music. The built-in Noise Gate helps you to handle upcoming noise in case of higher gain settings. A great option to cut through the band mix e.g. when playing a solo, is the Mid Boost function.

The power amp is equipped with 6L6GC, just like his bigger brother, the Fireball 100. Due to the power amp design, the Fireball 25 has enough punch and headroom for every live and studio situation. The built-in Power Soak offers you the opportunity to play late at night or whenever higher volumes are unacceptable. Furthermore it gives you the opportunity to push the amplifier's power amp to breakup at low volumes.

    This is an incredible little amp that I chose for my home after agonizing over ENGL vs 5150. While I would love to also have a 5150 Stealth, the ENGL Fireball 25 is everything I actually need and is way more usable at home. My comments are based on playing metal and hard rock in isolation, your mileage in a band may vary. The lead channel is phenomenal for my metal rhythm playing (no boost) and since I route it via my BOss Gt 1000 Core, I can change EQs and activate delays on the fly to switch between rhythm and lead. The clean channel is nice, not that I really use it as such. I do use it with an MXR 5150 "overdrive" to add a 5150 blue channel to the ENGL. That works extremely well. Basically, I am using a 2-channel amp like a 4-channel amp to cover all sounds I want at a very contained cost. In terms of usability, it sounds best to my ears at 25W and low volume as opposed to 4W and especially 1W. If you prefer power section-colored sound, then you may like the opposite. There is no hiss. Did I say no hiss? Right, no hiss :) And a great noise gate to boot. Front controls are so nice, at least at home. Digging on the back of a 5150 is a pain. Oh, and if I had 50W or 100W amp with a preamp out, I could use its pre-amp out into the ENGL's 2x6L6 power section to have sound suitable for home use without a line of complaining neighbors. Not that it is worth buying it as an attenuator but I think it should work as such aside from its own merits.

    I had my doubts. I bought a used PowerBar 100, but I said, let's give it a try and now stay in my collection. Pretty powerful. Great distortion. Lead gain, boost mid bottom, is a great little beast. For heavy power solos, riffs, even clean channel is sweet.

    Musicians Friend and GC are ready to cut me off from exchanging/ returning amp heads. I bought the Fireball 25 but I needed to know how good it was compared to other amps in this price/performance bracket. Amps I bought and sent back after comparing them to my ENGL. Peavy Invective MH, PRS Archon 50, Mesa Badlander 50 and an Orange Dark Terror MH. The lead/overdrive channel is perfect for me and the clean has a sweet tone on it's own or pushed with an OD.

    Sounds very clear under high distortion. Clean sound is also extremely clear. I love this head. It's extremely loud if you want it to be. I have a evh 5150 iii and I prefer this engl.
