I've been playing for 47 years and have played with David Sanborn, TLC, A Tribe Called Quest, The Brothers Johnson to name a few. I've had every bass string on the market. Marcus Miller uses Dunlop Bass Strings. Do I need to say more?! The strings are top shelf for those that want clarity and durability. The take a slap beating and last...and the price is fair.

Great strings for the bassist that likes mid-range tones to cut thru the mix.

Well, where do I begin? For starters, I'm pretty certain these were not meant for a 34" scale 5 string bass. Or at least they are not optimized for them, in comparison to D'Addario, who has sets that are distinctly made for 34" scale and another for longer. Intonation was a PITA! I've never had to move my saddles so far towards the neck to get them set. Even then the D string was way out of whack. Before you think, "What pawn shop bass is this dude putting them on?" - A Modulus Flea Bass 5 with a super rigid, super clean graphite neck that makes good strings sing for days. Far from pawn shop, and far from being cheap. I've never had an intonation problem with this bass until these strings invaded my fretboard. Tone is so-so and is more of a personal taste (as with about everything). The bite and clarity that I was used to having from other brands was completely lacking. They are more on the warm side without a lot of mids, which might be great for a different bass, but definitely not Modulus. The B string didn't start sounding halfway decent until some break-in time, and I initially thought it was dead right out of the package. The E string sounded really good when it was brand new. In fact it has nearly convinced me to use a heavier E, which I will do with a different brand. Overall - very disappointed!
