I use the 11s for D standard tuning and use these 12s for C standard. The tension feels good on the neck in low tunings. They last a long time. Only con is they are hard to get..so alot of folks must be using them...
Old School Strings

I'm recently retired and decided to start playing guitar. I took lessens through the 60's. I still have my old guitar, a mint 1962 strat. I always used heavy or extra heavy strings. I just bought a telecaster, first thing I did was string it up with heavy Dunlop strings, next I changed pickups. I love the action on these strings, and what a deal a 6 pack for $25.00. Once you get use to heavies you will never go back to light strings, even if they are easier to bend notes. Bottom line great strings great price. Think I'll buy a few more 6 packs !!

I tune down to low B and was using DR DDT 11s for a while. These strings were ok but I really had to adjust my bridge because I was still getting a lot of slack, and my action was high. I don't like going beyond the 54 gauge for fast alternate picking, so I could not go the the 12s as they have a 60. I switched to these 12s and my bridge now floats in a normal position, low action, very little string buzz, and my strings are not floppy. So far they have held up to my abusive death metal and have kept thier tone. They have been the best strings I have used for Death Metal.

I have been using these string since day one of being available at my local guitar center. I have been playing for 4 years and have been using these of about 2 years now. The most shocking thing, I have yet to use more then 10 set of them and I have 3 guitars. They are soooo sooo great when It comes to Heavy dropped tunings. I play from everything from D to Drop F, AND STILL REMAINS IN TUNE. If you read this,please...for the sake of your passion,go pick up a set of this.

These are great strings for low tunings. Anywhere from D to G# would be what I use these strings for. I play mostly G# and the strings are somewhat tight but I wish Dunlop would have a .13-.56 set so its more clean and tighter. Neither less theses are good strings and not a single one has broken on me. They have a pounding sound and should only be use if you want a heavy sound. But they do have the cleanest in them if the settings are right.
