Beautiful guitar with a sound to match

I wanted an acoustic bass to encourage me to practice more often - less hassle to just reach over and grab it without having to plug anything in. With that, I've been playing this every day for over a month now. Great sound, good feel, looks great. Stays in tune very well, despite occasional rough playing. I don't trust the accuracy of the built in tuner, though.

I was surprised at how nice this bass is for the price. It was on sale when I brought it. Plays well. Not very loud acoustically. But most players plug them into a PA anyway. It came with some rough fret edges that should have been fixed at the factory, but a few minutes with a Dremel tool grinding the edges took care of that problem. Over all, I'm happy with it.

I just purchased this from my GC store on Saturday. They had two of these in the store. One had buzzy frets down toward the nut, and the other played clean and clear. Obviously, I purchased the good one. This thing sounds and plays great for a < $300 bass!

  • Good for the sale price.

Practice and outdoor small gathering jams. Okay unplugged but not very loud. Onboard electronics are not very good. But I bought this on sale for less than $250.00 and they tossed ina new set of strings due to originals being shot. I must say the neck I very straight and the action is pretty good.

I use this bass in our church worship sets. It has a rich mellow tone. The acoustic makes demands that I work hard on finger position and pressure. I go through a set of strings in about 3 months. I would definitely recommend the bass!

Th AXS is mahogany. The EABC is spruce. The tone quality is strictly personal opinion.

This bass would be compatible with any acoustic bass strings. It is mainly a matter of personal preference. The Elixir, DR or Ernie ball strings would be a good choice.
