Slightly expensive, but worth every penny!

I just bought this preamp pedal yesterday, and I'm blown away by how much this pedal can do! I don't intend to use it as an overdrive, but more like a leave-on preamp. I use it along with my DS-1 and since the DS-1 is known for its slightly scratchy tones, I use the sub parametric EQ on the womanizer to smooth out the highs and boost the mids a bit for a nice, fat lead tone. When the DS-1 is off, my tone is on that threshold of overdrive. So my guitar tone sounds clean, and slightly driven at the same time. It sounds great!! It really warms up my guitar tone and I'm very impressed with this product. I'd recommend this to any serious guitarist!

The Damage Control Womanizer is probably the best overdrive/distortion for capturing the sound and feel of a true vintage tube amp, it also can do better high-gain distortion than just about any other pedal I've used, except Damage Control's own Demonizer. The sound of the Womanizer can probably best be described as smooth(almost creamy), but it can bite too depending on how you set it and it can exhibit a sort of hollow ringing tone that only cascading tube amps seem to capture. It truly goes from glassy cleans to a full grind, probably because the 2 12AX7 tubes are running at a real amp level of 250 volts. Wile it has rugged pedal style switches and construction, the Womanizer is a complete preamp with a great layout that includes a clean and effective, compressor and very flexible EQ section that uses a pre tube semi-parametric and post tube treble and bass boost/cut configuration, this really lets you dial in some diverse sounds, from anything 60's/70's to some very modern high gain tones. The Direct Out really sounds great too, it's just a great pedal. One of the few distortions that actually surpassed my expectations, I wouldn't want to be without my Womanizer, you won't either.
