Description

The DW Performance Series 5-piece shell pack raises the bar for intermediate drum kits. Featuring DW's innovative HVX maple shells handcrafted in their California custom shop, this configuration delivers a punchy yet resonant tone perfectly suited for any musical genre. The Performance Series' shells are constructed using a proprietary grain orientation technology and eight plies of hand-selected, North American hard rock maple. The result is a rich, full tone with plenty of attack and projection that sounds and feels utterly DW.

HVX Shells: The Heart of DW Performance

The foundation of the Performance Series' unmistakable DW sound are its HVX shells. Built using an advanced construction process developed in DW's custom shop, the shells combine specially oriented woodgrains with precision-cut 45-degree bearing edges for maximum resonance and articulation. The eight-ply tom and kick drum shells provide a fat, muscular tone, while the 10-ply snare shell delivers crisp definition and sensitivity.

Hardware That Holds Its Own

The Performance Series features much of the same hardware as DW's high-end Collector's Series drums, including DW's Suspension Tom Mounts (STM) that allow shells to resonate freely for a rich, sustained tone. Low-mass claw hooks and DW's trademark quarter turret lugs provide classic DW styling with minimal shell contact. All hardware is finished in sleek chrome that accents the shimmering Pewter Sparkle wrap finish.

Expandable and Versatile

While this five-piece shell pack offers a complete core drum set for any style of music, it can be expanded with additional toms, cymbals, and a double kick pedal. DW Drums Collector's Series Warranty:
Drum Workshop, Inc. guarantees that DW Collector's Series® Drums are free of material and workmanship defects for a period of six (6) years from the original purchase date. Drum Workshop will repair or replace defective products free of charge to the original purchaser upon delivery of the product to an authorized DW Drums dealer. Proof of purchase and status as the original purchaser are required for warranty coverage. DW's maximum liability pursuant to this warranty is limited to the monetary value of the product that is the subject of the warranty claim. This is a summary only; please see the actual limited warranty for additional terms and conditions.

DW Pedals and Hardware Warranty:
For a period of five years from the date of purchase, Drum Workshop, Inc. guarantees the original owner, when presented with proof of purchase, that all 9000, 5000 and 7000 Series Bass Drum Pedal cast parts are free of material and manufacturing defects. This warranty is limited to cast parts only; such as the base casting, footboard, beater hub, sprocket, heel and cam casting. This warranty does not include moving parts; such as the spring assembly, beater ball, radius rod, hex shaft, ball bearings, etc. If under normal playing conditions parts covered in this limited five year warranty fail, they will be replaced at no charge. Return the pedal to your authorized DW dealer or, if there is not a dealer in your area, contact DW direct. DO NOT send pedal to DW without first receiving a Return Authorization Number. Shipping charges to DW will be paid by the consumer. DW's maximum liability pursuant to this warranty is limited to the monetary value of the product that is the subject of the warranty claim. 35 years of playing Ludwig, Gretch, Pearl, Tama. DW takes the mark hands down!

I have been playing professionally for over 35 and have played most manufacturers drums. I was originally going to purchase a DW classic series set. I decided that I wanted to do a side by side comparison of the Classic and the Performance series. There are some considerable differences in style but the tonal quality between the two was not remarkable. As a matter of fact I could not tell the difference. DW has crafted an outstanding line of affordable drums that meet my specifications as a pro drum kit. I purchased the Performance Series 5 piece Ebony Stain Lacquer (American Hard Rock Maple) with Chrome Hardware. 10" 12" mounted Toms 14" 16" Floor Toms. I purchased the DW Super Rack with Side Arm, DW 9000 HiHat, DW 9000 Double Kick, DW 9000 Snare Stand and and 2 more DW cymbal arms to add to the already two that came with the rack. The drums out of the box sounded good. I change the heads to to remo pinstripes and tuned them to my liking and they really have excellent tone, projection, punch and depth! The craftsmanship is outstanding! The finish is flawless! There is no detail that DW has left out on this kit. In the studio or live this set really has the punch that I have been looking for! As for the hardware and the Super Rack, goes it is hands down the best set-up I have ever had. Memory locks for every adjustment imaginable. Ease of use is phenomenal. Do yourself a favor if you are into getting a new set. These drum are not inexpensive but they are a serious mid level professional DW drum set. Make no mistake about it. DW did not cut corner with the quality of this sets. This Performance Series drum set far exceeded my expectation. Once your peers see and hear this set, they will be in awe!

Wasn't Wow'd!

I have the Limited Edition PDP set and was just looking for the best of the best to have a set me take me to "end of life" enjoyment. After setting it up, the heads that came with it were just ok. I took the heads off my PDP (new Remo) and still couldn't get them to sing like my PDP's. After tuning for hours and changing heads a third time, set up my PDP and am totally satisfied with what I have! Musicians Friend we're amazing like usual and sent me an RMA. Was super excited about going DW but for the money, my PDP's sound 100 times better. Thanks MF for this journey. Sorry it didn't work out.

    I've had the drums for 2 years now and I've been happy, satisfied and proud. I have used the drums for daily practice and a recent indoor gig. Everyone has said great things about the drums even non-drummers. I bought it when DW had a factory sale and even bought additional toms with a drum rack.

    I've always wanted a DW but thought they were too overpriced. When the performance series first came out I bypassed it due to being made in outside of the U.S. Honestly I didn't even know until this year that production was moved back into the California factory. I knew I wanted white, and I tried out a collectors, performance, and design series. Didn't care for the Design because the toms sounded a little different. Don't get me wrong, nice kit compared to other brands. Just not what I had come to expect from DW. As for the performance series, I couldn't tell the difference in sound side by side against a collector's. I didn't need any custom sizes (just the standard rock configuration) and I loved the look of the white ice lacquer. So for me it was a no-brainer. The only change from this configuration is that I have the 6.5" deep snare drum instead of the 5.5". Everything sounds great, and it stays in tune very well. I like the 1/2'" diameter floor tom legs and tom mounts. It just makes it look and feel really solid. Before this my favorite kit I've owned was a Tama Starclassic birch/bubinga. For around the same price point, this has it beat.

    I’m sorry but no. Shell packs are only the drums. There is no hardware, cymbals or pedals included

    Why doesn't your 5 piece DW performance drum list include a snare? You're advertisement only list four drums not 5. It least the following drums.Bass drum(s): 22" x 18" Tom(s): 10" x 8", 12" x 9" Floor tom(s): 16" x 14"

    I'm waiting for delivery. So the Tom's aren't mounted on the bass correct? But it does come with a stand for the Tom's to mount on correct?

    Correct, the toms are mounted toms that are suspended from a stand, not the bass drum.
