Great gigging amp for the pedal-based guitarist.

The DV Mark EG signature combo is a super-clean, loud, virtually weightless combo that is designed to be an ideal pedal platform. It packs a lot of punch - more than I expected, frankly, due to its solid-state power section. Surprisingly close, in fact, to the 65W tube amp that it will be replacing as my primary gigging amp due to its weight and not being a hard-to-replace vintage amp. Very basic control section (which is good in a pedal-based rig) consisting of volume, 3-band EQ and reverb (which EG doesn't actually use - it's nice to have though). I can tell you from a great deal of first-hand experience that Eric is very particular about tone, so it's really a testament to DV Mark's engineering skills that they were able to satisfy his rather demanding ears with a hybrid platform, especially given that his previous signature amplifier, which he had been playing for years, was a very high-end, boutique all-tube system. Live, of course, he uses the separate head and cabinet setup (he likes a lot of stage volume) but the combos are ideal for rehearsals, recording etc. As for myself, my stage volume requirements are not quite so high - I just needed something that would adequately replace my Music Man 65W combo (and that's 65 tube watts) in terms of comparable CLEAN power, pedal-friendliness and a tone that "breathes" and has the same kind of response that you normally only expect to find when tubes are providing your power. Honestly I had never even considered that I would get what I wanted out of a hybrid amp (most SS power/tube preamps do provide a bit of warmth and pleasant-but-subtle harmonic distortion from the tube preamp but what you get from actual tubes driving your power is a whole different thing) but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this amp more than delivers. Plus, it's so lightweight, I cannot stress that enough. I'm never carrying heavy amps again. I'm too old for that nonsense. Bottom line - loud, clean, lightweight, great tone, made to work well with pedals. What more do you need?

I am a freelance musician who plays for church, college events, open mics, etc. I'm also a lover of pedals and good tube amps. The preamp tube delivers the warmth and organic feeling of other great amps. The EQ is very dynamic. The lightweight construction not only makes this amp easy to carry around but allows it to resonate very well on all sides. I use modeling and boutique pedals and the Raw Dawg takes all of them very well whether it's in the front of the amp or in the effects loop. This is a VERY LOUD 60 watts. Easily able to cut through any drummer and bass. Probably the best part is that because there is only preamp tubes and no power tubes you can unplug the speaker if needed and use whatever cab sim that you need and it still sounds amazing. I 100% reccomend this amp to guitarist of ALL genres and backgrounds and experience.
