  • They make the bass play better than standard strings.

I got these for a 6 string bass 30-125, they improve the play ability of the instrument, its just less resistance probably due to the round core. for this reason most DR strings have round cores, I first noticed the better playability of Dr strings when a friends bass played better than my Shecter toxic venom and I thought it must be the strings, he had Drs black beauties and once I put these Drs red devils on my bass sure enough it was the strings. I ordered some Dr Srings Pure Blues for my stainless steel fret bass but I got the red devils for my nickel fret bass because they are silver plated steel wound under the red coating giving them two layers of material that is softer than nickel so they will never wear out nickel frets. I'm thrilled, the bass plays noticably better than before, I it allready took my playing to another level just by lowering the resistance required to play the bass. they sound more like regular strings not like tape wounds. but they got uncoated strings too. its the round core that makes them play Ez er not the coating.

I wanted a plain black bass I bought recently to stand out so I got these red strings. They are gorgeous, provide exactly the look I wanted, and best of all, they sound great. They sound as good as any non-colored strings I've ever used. The finish seems to be holding up well after daily use. They are a huge bargain for the price so I will definitely buy again.

I suspect the various colors available are the same basic strings. These coated strings are really good - they play in tune with themselves and with minimal care they last a long time sounding great. I had a set on a Hotrod Precision bass for almost three years, playing gigs between two and four nights per week. When I sold the bass I just left the strings on for all comers to try, and nobody said anything but positives about the strings. They liked the bass, too. These strings are a great deal even at $35/set. Clear, focused tone and lively.

In over 20 years of playing bass, DR Red Devils are the best bass strings I've ever used. I have a set on my Warwick Masterman bass that I put on a year ago and the strings have held their tone for over 30 shows. I recently got a new set, so I'm good to go for another year!
