These are simply the best sounding, best playing strings for a strat. I am very tone/feel conscious of which string is best for every guitar and this is the best match for a strat I've ever used. Been playing 30+ years pro. These are smooth, rich, great harmonic, touch sensitive, excellent sustain and "hang" strings And ... EB's are really the junk food of guitar strings - good for the masses and competetively priced - you can get full, but without great taste.

Usually use DM Blue Steels...local GC was out so I got these. My first thought was wow, amazing tone, and stayed in tune after just a couple retunes. Then I played for about two hours, wiped everything down & put string conditioner on...opened the case the next day & you could see the tarnish on the plain strings as plain as day. They were so bad, I was afraid they'd break while I was playing live the next day. Luckily they didn't, but you can't depend on these strings...they'd be great to record though.

Blues Rock Indeed

By Ryman

from AZ

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I've made a mistake, I bought ernieball thinking there good...but they weren't. After my DR'S ran out of life after about 4 months. I played these everyday. These DR strings were my first ones I ever had to. I can now say I'll never buy an ernieball string again. These strings have a brighter more blues sound. I love them...and I don't care if the whole world plays other strings, but I'll warn you, your going to want these back.

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

After 30 years of trial and error, this is the string that keeps it's tone and last the longest with my body chemistry. A new set settles down and stays in tune faster than any string I have ever tried. I'm sold for life

Pure Blues Equal Pure Tone

By ledhed2186

from Triad, NC

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I bought the DR Pure Blues for my Fender Strat on recomendation from a friend of mine. My initial impression was jaw dropping. These strings sound phenominal, the tone is crystal clear and fuller than with other strings. And what's more, these strings can take all kinds of abuse and still sound great. Don't hesitate, order a couple of packs today!

Believer

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I'm a believer. I've been trying different strings on a new Agile 3100MC (nice Les Paul clone with Alnico Vs) and wanted to give pure nickel rounds a trial run given the positive reviews. I'm sold. I followed the instructions exactly and didn't even stretch the strings. They settled in faster than anything else I've tried. I was up and in tune pretty much from the get-go with minor intonation adjustments for the wound strings after removing the heavier D'Addario EXL115 strings. I'll probably try the heavier gauge DRs next, but these are already deep and rich with a silky, singing quality to the highs, super easy to bend, too. They also feel great to my fingertips given my touchy body chemistry. They take gobs of gain and roll off the edgy treble overtones, altogether a very composed, resonant string that can be pushed in beautiful ways. They're like the analog tube version of strings.

The Best Strings Out There!

By 1995*Strat

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I just recently tried these strings for the first time on an American Standard Stratocaster and my first impression was "WOW" These strings, sound incredible-very warm with loads of vintage tone. The feel was perfect and bending strings was a breeze. I'm not sure how but when changing strings you don't really have to stretch these out. These are the best sounding strings I have ever played and worth every penny.

DR Pure Blues is amazing

By TheGuitarIsMyFriend

from Undisclosed

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I had been using different strings for a long time, and I just put these strings on my Gibson. I noticed the difference immediately! The sound is much more twangy and vintage. I love the sound and tone of it. Right away when I tuned it, I noticed that it is quicker to keep its sound than most others I have tried. I guarantee that I will not go back to using my old strings! These are worth spending the extra cash on.

Great Guitar Strings

By Nick

from Fort Worth

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I use these strings on all 3 of my guitars. When new they have a very short break-in time usually staying perfectly in tune after a couple of tunings. They also hold their tune and tone longer than any other string I have used even with aggressive bending. They have a great tone perfect for blues and jazz. I suppose that is why they call them "Pure Blues".

Great product even for newbies!

By Bryan Umberger

from Lexington, KY

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I am still quite new to the whole world of guitar playing. I have an old fender strat that I am learing to play the blues with. I broke a string a few days back and replaced all of them with the DR pure blues 10 gauge. I must tell you the difference in tone is amazing. My instructor (a collector and teacher) loved them. He was going to go pick some up after he tried my guitar. They are real easy to play. Even for newbie players. I love them I have found my favorites.

I Love these Strings

By rich

from Mt. Pleasant, SC

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

These strings are the perfect fit for all of my neck thru style guitars. they especially sound great on the Les Paul. I like to break them in for a couple of days . They seem to sound better after 2 to 3 days. And, they hold up for a long time. By far the best strings I have ever used.

Good for blues and jazz

By tm

from San Jose, CA

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I have two stratocasters: one is for rock and the other is for jazz and blues. The first one has tremolo bridge enabled and Daddario EXL110. The second one has tremolo bridge disabled and this DR Pure Blues Nickel Medium. The difference between these strings is just sound to me. The feelings are pretty close. Both are flexible enough and easy to hold and play. The pure nickel sound matches jazz and blues. The reason why I don't use Daddario pure nickel strings is that those have slight different gauges from EXL110, while the gauge of this DR Pure Blues Nickel Medium is identical to that of EXL110. I am satisfied with this DR Pure Blues Medium.

i put these on a strat i was modding. 15 minutes into playing the G string on the 5th fret was worn through showing a copper color. 1 hour later the B string was worn through the nickel plating as well. THESE ARE NOT PURE NICKEL STRINGS. i let my guitar sit for a few hours and came back to play it. the tone changed even though i had not played the guitar for a few hours. they literally deaden with just sitting there.

5 stars to the local GC staff in Wichita who were quick and very helpful in resolving my issue!

After I put the set of strings on the guitar, I noticed the winding on the 5th string was loose around the core - I could push the winding back and forth on the string. The GC staff were helpful and gave me a replacement set (even though I only needed one string). Overall, the folks at my GC store redeemed the experience for me, but I will not be buying any more DR strings.

Comments about DR Strings PHR10 Pure Blues Nickel Medium Electric Guitar Strings:

I purchased these while at a local GC shop. They recommended these in a 3 pack for a great price, so of course I purchased them. At first, I was skeptical about using these strings, because I had never heard of the brand before and I was used to playing extra light strings. The strings came in easy packaging, and I had no trouble putting them on. From the first note I played, I could tell an obvious difference. The tone is really bright and warm, unlike the strings I had previously which were very mellow. The strings work very well with blues and cleans, whether leads or chords. I mostly play hard rock and metal, which these weren't ideal for, they seemed a little too bright for my taste. However, on clean they sound amazing. These strings are easy to use and will make your tone far better

The local Guitar Center in Arizona had these strings for a very attractive price so I took the plunge. I used these strings years ago and experienced string breakage and intonation problems. I have been playing guitar for 46 years and have tried every string there is. These were the worst strings I have ever used. I could not get the A string to stay in tune no matter what. Sorry DR, I will NEVER buy your strings again.
