    The Only Strings I Use

    By Dogstarr1

    from Atlanta, GA

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 4 String Bass Strings:

I had heard good things about DR Strings and haven't looked back since I tried my first set about a year ago. They really don't eat your frets and seem to last considerably longer than other strings I've used, I don't use the long-life coated strings either. The strings are very tightly wound and have a silkier, smoother feel than most roundwound bass strings (probably why your frets last). They aren't the cheapest strings, but considering how well they last, I think they are actually a bargain.

    Just great strings!

    By Larry Davis

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 4 String Bass Strings:

I've been playing bass for 35 years now. For decades I was a Rotosound guy. I now have my Rotosounds for sale, and am replacing all Bass and Acoustic Guitar strings with DRs. Tone and feel are fantastic, and they truly do last longer than any other strings I've tried.

    BEST quality uncoated strings

    By jacqueslilavois

    from Duarte, CA

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 4 String Bass Strings:

I currently use Elixir coated strings, but if you like uncoated strings, then DR bass strings are the way to go. These strings are hand-wound and they are wound tightly so that the strings have more mass and more metal to them than standard strings. I notice the difference in tone and sting life right away. If I don't get Elixirs, I always get DR hand wound strings. They are the best.

    Nice bright tone

    By BassPlayer

    from Clearwater, FL

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 4 String Bass Strings:

First I noticed when open package - this strings are heavy. If you didn't have steel strings before you found them rough on touch with metalic sound. They produce nice bright tone and lasts at least two times longer than D'Addario (two months instead of one). I'm still on my way to find MY strings, but DR Hi-Beams is already in my list.

    The best to date

    By SAM

    from Pa

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 4 String Bass Strings:

These are by far the best bass strings I have used to date. They are smooth to the touch comfortable to play and create a masterful tone on any bass. I had heard some good things about Dean Markley Blue Steel strings and decided to give them a shot since they were cheaper. Well you get what you pay for. They did not even compare, they are much rougher strings physically and create a harsher lesss musical tone than the DR's. I also experimented with the light guage dr's still very good strings but the tone does suffer a little on the low end. I think perhapse next time I will try med-lts. But so far these are it.

    Nothing else comes close

    By Jamie R

    from St. Paul, MN

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 4 String Bass Strings:

I've been an active bassist for more than a decade and I learned early on that DR's are by far the best bass strings. And I've tried them all. While any roundwound will sound bright right out of the package, DR's are signifigantly more solid-feeling and the tone is far and away the most balanced. Full and rich like an expensive piano. The low-end punch and brightness is crucial for rock, pop, or punk bassist... particularly those in 3-piece bands who really need to be heard in the mix. It's more expensive, but just try it. I just don't feel like I sound like me without them.

    Awesome for popping funk bass

    By David Trevino

    from Appleton WI

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 4 String Bass Strings:

I put these on my ibanez bass from the early 90's with active EMG pickups. Sounds great I like to play slap bass with this one. Never had trouble getting enough bottom end these have nice highs and are smooth and easy on your hands.
