I use several DR products almost exclusively. The Black Beauties deliver a consistent tone an long life.

There are no other flats that compare to this. The first time I heard them, I had to play them; the first time I played them, I couldn't stop... I just couldn't stop. On an American Fender Jazz Bass, there is no better combination or sound. For me, I will never buy any other string for the rest of my life. I play these every day for years, and they just get better with age and grime. These cochinas will make you cream your pants while you play.

Bought my first fretless and was very happy to find DR makes flatwound strings. They are the best sounding and most consistent flatwound strings I've found yet.
great strings i will continue to use them

the strings are smooth and there is no string noise when playing as the round wounds do.

I got a new decent quality Ibanez Bass and with the stock round wound strings, it played "pretty well" but lacked "punch" and really faded on the upper end of the register. Otherwise the Bass played well. On my instructor's recommendation (specifically he recommended the DR flat wounds), I put these on, and re-calibrated all the tuning and adjustments on the Bass (I am told this is necessary because the tensions are all very different, and the adjustments made were pretty significant). Anyway, these strings made my new Bass sound "Amazingly Smooth!". The tone evened out across the whole register, and this Bass plays better than many high end Basses (even been told this by some pro's in the business a long time). I am astonished by the range of sounds I can get with this set up, between using different playing techniques and adding different effects. I am now a DR-Flat-wound Junkie! Love them! Unless anything better comes along, I will stick with these.

Will these work length wise on a Fender Zone American made bass? I'm guessing the Zone would be a bout the same length wise as a Jazz or Precision.
yes they will.submitted7 years ago

How are these strings with an acoustic/electric bass?
DR Strings Flatwound Legend Bass Strings are made and engineered for electric pickups. Depending on your acoustic-electric bass these strings would have a noticeably weaker sound.
