DOD Overdrive Preamp 250 Reissue with Charlie O’Neal

Description
The DOD Overdrive Preamp 250 has Gain and Level controls, like its predecessors. Gain controls the amount of distortion, from just a touch of grit to all-out grind. Level dials in some subtle body for "always on" performance or huge amounts of boost for boosting solos above a dense stage mix. With the Gain all the way down, crank up the Level to boost your sound and cut through during your solos. True-bypass allows your guitar tone to remain pristine even when the DOD 250 is off. This is a big difference from the original which would color your bypassed tone. The modern 9V DC power supply input make the pedal more pedal board friendly.

DOD OVERDRIVE/PREAMP 250
I had an original Overdrive preamp 250 when I was 14...many years ago. I used it well into my 2o's, before i had any issues with it (structurally and sonically), and have since retired it. Until purchasing the newer Overdrive/preamp 250, i couldn't find a SINGLE pedal that was as reliable, efficient and BALLSY. This pedal DELIVERS! Clean, crisp distortion, warm tone, amazing sustain...perfect for crunchy chords and especially for screaming solos

This pedal seems to be loved by all, but I found myself kind of disappointed with it. It's very bottom heavy, making it sound kind of muddy in a lot of the settings, and if you crank the overdrive too much, it gets really thin and brittle sounding. I found it difficult to find the sweet spots, and even when I landed on some good tones, I ended up preferring my other overdrives instead. That being said, it may fit other rigs better than mine, and it's all just a matter of preference.

I had an original one of these back in the late eighties. This one sounds like it, but is a notch up with the true bypass, which I consider a good thang. Glad to have that particular distortion tone back in my lineup to give my single channel tube amp some snarl and spice.
Great Overdrive for the Money!

Has a good range of overdrive tones, similar to drive pedals of old. It has a bit more bass/low end than the original, which I like. It is also true bypass.
