Great guitar for the price!

I've been playing this guitar for over a week. It has excellent features such as tone and playability. The P90's really shined through during three gigs this weekend. Also, the ocean turquoise color is amazing in person. The online pic does not do the guitar finish justice. The only issues I've found is there isn't the usual big bump when switching to the neck pick up, but I think that's an easy fix with adjusting the pick up height. The other is that I'm getting used to a light semi-hollow body. I usually play a little hard and if you apply a little pressure to the body/neck it will slightly change the intonation.

Poor packaging and rough handling ruined it

I knew things didn't look good when I saw the condition of the box. Firstly, the guitar was shipped in a single box, and not a sturdy one at that, certainly not suitable by itself for truck transit, and only lightly padded inside. By the time it got to my door, the box looked like it had been used in a WWE skit. I'm not kidding; it was mostly crushed and half torn apart, literally being held together by a few strips of packing tape. When I opened what was left of the box, I was honestly surprised to see the guitar still in one piece. Unfortunately, a huge gash in the side/top near the controls, so bad some wood was missing, meant that it was going back. A shame, as it was pretty much fine in every other aspect, except for maybe a few very minor finish imperfections - not uncommon for a guitar in this price range, and nothing worth mentioning - and a neck pickup not quite screwed down all the way. I'm still waiting on the refund as MF no longer does exchanges, and I need the credit in order to repurchase. I'm still debating whether or not I want to risk going through this again.

Love this thing. Absolutely gorgeous in every aspect. Plays great right out of the box. I lowered the strings a bit and had to re shape the nut. It had some violently sharp corners. That High E corner will get you every time. I think it's tusque. Changed out the strings to my preferred and shaped the nut. It's sound is outstanding. As good as this one is, I could only imagine what a top of the line D'angelico feels/sounds like. Guess I'll have to save up and find out. First one. Huge fan now.

Great feel and tone. My first D 'Angelico. Couldn't beat the sale price. Still understanding the sound of the p90's but needed to try them anyway. Took it to have setup and have elixir strings put on. Now sounds like what I was expecting. Lots of chime but not so much that it's overly loud. I play blues and jazz on it.

Played good right out of the box . I installed fresh strings and dropped the action and it's really nice to play . The tone from the p-90 pickups is great ! Beautiful clean and plenty of bite when high gain dirty .

I had purchased another D'Angelico guitar but it was lost in transit and then this guitar popped up on SDOTD and things have a way of turning out and this turned out well for me.

If you're an acoustic guitar player who finds most electrics too noodlely to play right, this is a good choice. Wide neck, good all around thickness and weight, plus a cool pick guard.

I bought a case for this guitar that fits 335 style guitars. Well it didn't fit. The d'angelico cases are not in stock anywhere. Just need an idea what case will fit, thanks!

If a 335 case didn't fit we would more than likely have to special order the specific case for it. Give us a call at 866-498-7882 and we can look into that for you.

The lower bout is measured at 12.5" on the guitar, so it should fit.
