I love everything about it except the tailpiece.

I play this guitar almost every day, including small venues and recording. The tailpiece cracked after about one year but the company sent me a replacement immediately for free.
This is an awesome guitar for jazz.

I use this guitar for jazz and blues. At first I was concerned about the longer (25.5") scale length but mine has a very friendly neck. The tone is great, especially through headphones, so I believe it will be great for recording. The workmanship is of a very high quality. Intonation is spot on.
if I knew how to play jazz I'd play this guitar

honestly, I don't know much jazz guitar, however the EXL-1 seems to be the perfect guitar for jazz players. from what I've heard and seen online, many high level jazz musicians recommend the EXL-1. this guitar keeps a traditional look of a large jazz box guitar while also delivering impressive sound and tone. the guitar is equipped with a Seymour Duncan floater pickup which makes this guitar so rich. the full hollow body also sounds great whether or not it is plugged into an amp.
AND NOW I HAVE THREE

Started playing when I was 10, that was 57 years ago. Never a pro, but I've had lotsa fun. This is one of my 3 favorite guitars, the other two are my Fender D'Aquisto Elite, John D'Aquisto was James D'Angelico's protege, and the Santa Cruz archtop long out of production. I got my first EXL-1 at Guitar Center as a blemished, now I have three - blond, blue, and classic sunburst - two to go - black and ice tea burst, they're so beautiful I can't resist the collection. They play as good as they look, they sound as good as they look and play. One caveat. These are jazz boxes with a wonderful gentle warm voice, if that's not what you want you won't be happy, if that's what you want you'll fall in love.
Great guitar clean sound

Fabulous sound for anyone who loves jazz or something along that line. I bought it for blues but she is too clean for my honky tonk self.but that has nothing to do with the guitar. This is a wonderful machine that dates you to play better faster that you do. It has asked me to stretch what I do. Superior quality. Great neck. Like you to be gentle, no speed limit on the neck. If you love jazz or piedmont style you will not be disappointed.

Only had it for a few days so far. It sounds very good. I'm very happy with the pickup. It's nice and clear. Glad they upgraded it for 2018. I love the neck. Very easy to play. Volume and tone controls work very well and it doesn't seem to lose tone when reducing volume. The neck is very straight. Wood is nice tight grain. It's currently at my luthier having the frets crowned and general setup done as I do with all my guitars because I'm picky. I could get the action pretty low but it needed just a little work to make it perfect (just like every guitar I've bought). Very playable out of the box. Feels and looks like a quality instrument.
