Overview

Electrozinc Jazz 12's are ideal for the electric jazz guitarist. With a .52 for a low-E and a wound G-string, jazz players can count on strong bass while comping and a thick lead sound. Co-designed and engineered by D’Addario, Electrozinc marks the return of the partnership between these two legendary brands.

The story of the string begins more than 75 years ago. In 1938, John D’Angelico was already a living legend known for his signature archtop guitars, while John D’Addario was a young kid trying to expand the family string business. Their chance meeting would result in the invention of the world’s first modern round wound electric guitar string, the zinc-coated Bethanized Steel. Its sound was unrivaled in fullness, volume, and brightness. Its tone would be featured on some of the greatest records of all time. But the closing of the Bethlehem Steel plant in the ‘60s put an abrupt end to its production, leaving its sound unmatched for over half a century. Until now.

Today, D’Angelico and D’Addario have re-forged their storied partnership. Combining modern innovation with John D’Addario’s original designs, D’Angelico’s Electrozinc string is the truest tribute to Bethanized Steel since the original. And D’Addario’s EXP technology coats every string to maintain its classic tone even longer. Electrozinc will be available in six gauge variations, suiting players from all traditions—from hard rock to swinging jazz.

Comments about D'Angelico Electrozinc Jazz 12-52 Light Electric Guitar Strings:

The tone on a gibson l5 is great, after a week is more
then great, if you close your tone near to zero, it gives you nice overtones!
    Acoustically loud, well balanced.
but, there is a big con:
strings become spotted and rusty after 1 hour, that's why they are thin coated (not as elixir which are heavy coated ).
If you want a clean string (for your eyes), I suggest another brand, or flatwound.
Anyway Electrozinc are the best sounding strings for jazz guitars (this set replace well the gibson seg900ml)

Comments about D'Angelico Electrozinc Jazz 12-52 Light Electric Guitar Strings:

So happy to see D'Angelico making strings again! I'm not usually a coated string player being that I mostly play flatwounds but gave these a try and glad I did. These strings are surprisingly balanced which I'd guess has to do with the steel and zinc coating combination. Been playing them for around 2 weeks and they still feel great. These will be my goto when I play round wound!

P.S. - the attention to detail on the packaging is amazing. Has an awesome story inside about the original string collaboration between D'Angelico and D'Addario.
