D'Addario

collapse expand iconDescription

Combining the popular 80/20 bronze acoustic alloy with an advanced treatment protecting every string in the set. Available in light gauge (.012-.053), these strings provide the warm, balanced tone musicians love while resisting corrosion and extending lifespan. The XT strings stay in tune an unmatched 131% better than other acoustic strings thanks to the NY Steel core and Fusion Twist technology.

Natural Feel, Extended Protection

D'Addario's innovative coating protects the XT strings from corrosion and wear while preserving the natural, uncoated feel and tone. Musicians can enjoy the familiar 80/20 bronze acoustic sound and response for an extended period before changing strings.

Superior Tuning Stability

The NY Steel core provides increased tensile strength, and D'Addario's Fusion Twist wrap wire technology improves tuning stability by securely locking the wrap wire to the core. The XT strings hold tune better through changes in temperature and humidity, as well as during heavy playing.

Ideal for Versatile Play

The light 12-53 gauge offers a versatile size suitable for various musical styles. Strummers, pickers and fingerstylists alike will appreciate the balanced tension and flexibility. The XT strings' corrosion-resistant treatment also makes them a great choice for players in humid environments.

Eco-Friendly and Made in the USA

D'Addario's XT strings are made in the USA at their New York factory and come in 100% recyclable, resealable packaging. The strings themselves are also recyclable, for an eco-friendly solution with superior performance.

Best Coated Strings EVER

LONG STORY SHORT: buy them. In the past, I've used Elixir's nanoweb coated phosphor-bronze strings and D'Addario's EXP16 coated strings. Between the two I've preferred Elixir's, but altogether I never enjoyed having coated strings because of the "wet," almost plastic-y feel they have – not to mention the dust you end up with as guitar picks shred the coating. However, these D'Addario XT's are a game changer. Right out the packaging, I noticed the strings were unlike any coated string I've used before. They simply don't feel coated – I couldn't tell them apart from regular uncoated strings. The installation was easy, and it only took me one round of "stretching and tugging" to get these strings settled in and ready to play. After two weeks of daily-play, these still sound nice and crisp like brand new strings, and I've never seen even a bit of dust on my acoustic guitar. I've also used these XT's on my electric guitar and even strung them up on my buddy's bass, and I get the same results. These new XT's really remind me of the D'Addario's NYXL's – my all-time favorite strings, and if they last even LONGER than the NYXL's, I probably won't have to switch them out for maybe 7-9 months (compare that to my usual lifespan of 5-6 with my Elixir Nanoweb coated strings). I love these so much I bought a few packs for other guitarists in my Worship Band, and they love them too. If you're looking for coated strings with none of the usual cons, look no further. The D'Addario XT strings will change your life.

Not my cup of tea

I bought these strings because they were treated and not coated. Supposedly, these would be closer the the sound/tone of uncoated strings while being easier on the fingers. I didn't find either to be the case. If I can't find the uncoated strings that give me the sound I want, I'll probably go back to Elixir 80/20 nanowebs.

Great strings, last much longer overall than your typical uncoated acoustic string. Resists corrosion from sweaty hands better, keeping them sounding bright and feeling new for longer.

I just changed out strings and put these on. I'm relatively new to guitar, but they have a good tone to them. The sound has improved, I don't know the right term for it. But these sound better than what I had on the guitar. Going to get another set for my Fender.
