D'Addario

collapse expand iconDescription

The D'Addario NYXL1059 7-String Light Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings represent a breakthrough in string technology. Featuring an innovative high-carbon steel core and re-engineered nickel windings, these strings are built to handle the demands of shredding seven-string guitarists. The high-carbon steel core provides increased strength and greater tuning stability compared to traditional strings. The nickel windings are specially designed to produce enhanced output, improved midrange response and an overall crunchy tone ideal for metal and hard rock. Whether you're practicing sweep-picking arpeggios or performing divebombs on stage, NYXL1059 strings are tough enough to keep up with your most aggressive techniques while maintaining pitch. These revolutionary strings will unlock a new level of speed, power and confidence in your playing.

High-Carbon Steel Core for Ultimate Durability

At the heart of NYXL1059 strings is an innovative high-carbon steel core wire that is specially engineered to handle extreme bends, dives and whammy bar abuse without breaking. The high-carbon steel alloy provides greater tuning stability compared to traditional nickel wound strings, allowing you to perform radical techniques with confidence. Even after hours of practice or an intense live set, these strings will stay in tune through it all.

Re-Engineered Nickel Windings for Power and Presence

D'Addario developed a proprietary nickel winding process to produce strings with enhanced output, improved midrange frequency response and an overall crunchy tone perfect for high-gain amps and distortion. The reformulated nickel windings have greater magnetic properties, resulting in a hotter signal with emphasized midrange that cuts through the mix. Crank up your amp and distortion pedals to experience the unparalleled power and presence these strings provide.

Light Gage for Fast, Comfortable Playability

With a light gauge ranging from .010 to .059, NYXL1059 strings provide a familiar feel for shredding on a seven-string guitar. The lighter gauges facilitate fast fretting hand techniques while still producing a balanced tension and tone. Whether you prefer to riff in standard tuning or take advantage of the extended range a seven-string offers, these strings will perform with comfort and speed.

NYXLs last a while, have a great feel, and the color coded ball ends are always a nice touch. I would use instead, but I wish they made 9s for 7 string. #sweepstakes

The 6-string set of these sound and feel great on my Flying V. They setup quick and stay in tune. I definitely recommend them. **However**, I could not get them to pitch on my Gibson 7 String, which has the Steinberger Gearless tuners. The unwound strings kept slipping, and at a certain pitch (about a P4 below where they should be), they refused to go any further. Bummer, because they would have sounded killer on that guitar. Never had this happen with comparable DRs.
