Surprisingly good
A very small tuner that is meant to be used with an acoustic flat top guitar. The bothersome thing about it is that the wafer battery is exposed; without a cover and held in by a spring clip on one side and two tiny extrusions on the opposite side. Would rather that D'Addario had placed it on the top side, against the underneath the top of the guitar. If the clip becomes compromised, it will be useless. It loves to fall into the body of your guitar, especially if you try to remove it or move it to another position. The display is VERY CLEAR and the green and red LED colors sharp-looking. When your string is tuned perfectly, it shows a single vertical line on either side of the middle position marker, and shows a second or third line on the right of the center when sharp and a second or third one on the left when the string is flat. When you deliberately turn your tuning key considerably lower or higher than the perfect pitch but it is still closer to the natural pitch than the flatted or sharp note, the tuner shows how far out you are in red color and indicates with as many as five vertical lines. This tells me NOT to try to play the string at that pitch, especially on stage or in front of a few friends because everyone would be able to tell that your guitar is way out of tune. Very useful. I used the Tronical tuning system along with the D'Addario and compared the two tuners: low E = slightly higher pitch than the D'Addario A = slightly lower pitch than the D'Addario D = perfect match with the D'Addario G = perfect match with the D'Addario B = slightly lower pitch than the D'Addario hi E = perfect match with the D'Addario To play with other guitars in tune with each other, the D'Addario Micro provides you with adjustments of 435 cents to 445 cents. I would be surprised if anyone would ever need a wider variation than this and I certainly wouldn't, but the system IS FLEXIBLE and GENEROUS in that regard. Overall, I'm happy with the D'Addario.

Great tuner... until it damaged the finish
Love the performance and visibility. I HATE how it damaged the nitrocellulose finish on the top of my Martin. I had this mounted and in use for ~5 weeks. Took it off to move it a bit and found that surface of the finish was no longer glossy and slightly rough where the small rubber pad of the tuner touches the finish of the guitar. Surface was pristinely clean before mounting it. Guitar stored in case using daddario's humidipak system. (Which is great). It's not visible if your not looking for it, but still. Based on my experience, I would strongly NOT recommend using this tuner on a nitrocellulose finished top (or at least not on Martin nitrocellulose, anyway)

This is a great little tuner that fits in the sound hole. It seems to be accurate and is barely noticeable on the guitar. The only negatives are that it can only be used on an acoustic (which I was aware of before buying) and slightly loose on the soundboard on my guitar. You could probably bend the metal clip to tighten the grip, but then it may not work as it needs vibration to sense the frequency.
I love these little tuners!

I love these sound hole tuners. They're small and unobtrusive, super convenient and they work well. I do notice that they often have a little trouble picking up on the low E string so you have to spend a bit longer there than on the others, but you do get there. I have one in all 3 of my guitars.

This is the third one I've bought. They do the job and are much less conspicuous than a headstock clipon.
