D'Addario

Description

The D'Addario NB1253 Nickel Bronze Light Acoustic Strings, a premium uncoated string set engineered to highlight your acoustic guitar's authentic voice. The nickel bronze wrap wire brings out the natural frequencies of your instrument, providing unparalleled clarity, resonance and projection. With outstanding tonal balance and rich harmonics, the NB1253 strings let your guitar's true character shine through. Featuring D'Addario's NY Steel cores, these strings also provide improved tuning stability and durability. The light 12-53 gauge offers comfortable playability and a balanced tone on most acoustic guitars.

Nickel Bronze Wrap Wire Accentuates Your Guitar's Natural Voice

The Nickel Bronze wrap wire is precision engineered to accentuate the natural tone of your acoustic guitar. Rather than coloring the sound, these strings simply amplify your instrument's inherent qualities. The result is a crisp, focused tone that highlights the sonic properties of the guitar's woods.

NY Steel Cores Provide Tuning Stability and Longevity

At the core of the NB1253 strings are D'Addario's proprietary NY Steel cores. These high carbon steel cores provide exceptional tuning stability, string to string balance, and break resistance. You'll spend less time tuning and more time playing.

Light 12-53 Gage Offers Playability and Tonal Balance

The light 12-53 gauge is D'Addario's most popular acoustic string gauge. It provides a comfortable playing feel while producing a balanced tone on most acoustic guitars. The strings are taut enough for clear, ringing notes yet flexible enough for intricate fingerpicking.

Premium Materials and Precision Manufacturing

As with all D'Addario strings, the NB1253 Nickel Bronze Light Acoustic Strings are constructed from the highest quality materials using state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. Each string is precision wound and undergoes a proprietary treatment process to maximize tone, tuning stability, and longevity. The result is a premium uncoated string set worthy of any acoustic guitar.

Digging these strings

Used trad phospher bronze strings initially. Sound was too bright and brash on my full mahogany guitar. Tried Martin Retro next- hated those. Couldn't make it a week with the set. Had to take 'em off. Tone was just lifeless. I expected these Nickel Bronze to be the same experience, but gave them a try and was pleasantly surprised - loved them! With standard phosphor bronze the guitar had a braying tinny cartoon voice, by comparison. With the NB strings all the warm tone I hoped the mahogany would be able to convey immediately appeared and began to bloom. Its like I'm finally truly hearing the way the instrument was made to sound. You will sacrifice a bit of volume, not alot- and its worth it believe me for the sound you will achieve. I'm mostly a hybrid picker- true fingerstyle players will get even more satisfaction I would expect. Again, this is on a solid top all mahogany guitar. I cannot say how these may sound on a spruce or cedar top. Try them and let us know!

Didn't Do Anything for My Martin

I use a variety of strings because I think certain guitars sound better with certain strings. I use EXP 16's on many of my guitars so I thought I'd give these a try on my Martin CEO-7. I'm not impressed. Strummed with a pick they have a certain resonance. The mids aren't bad. To be kind I might call the strings mellow. To be more accurate I'd say the overall sound is sound muted, dead even. There's no sparkle or bite. The high E is lost. They may work on some guitars but they don't work for fingerpicking blues on this guitar. The original strings on the guitar Martin Lifespan PB. Not a huge fan of Martin strings but they sounded much better on this instrument.

Crisp highs and solid low end bass are what these strings produce on a dreadnought. If you are after mid range, these aren't for you. I play about 30 minutes a week, and I go to these for the price, quality and sustain- with a 3 pack lasting me a year.

I tune down to a Eb on my guitars. Some guitars, (smaller body) do not respond well when tuned down.I put a set of these strings on, and boy did my guitars come to life! No muddy low's. I have clarity and response. Even better when amplified.. Stays in tune much better than the PB...Well worth the money.

I had bought an older Yairi Dreadnought, and had it setup, new strings, etc. With 80/20s it was too much highs, with PBs it was thumps and kind of dull. Coated and uncoated, didn't matter. Seen these and said "why not, nothing else sounds right" . They sound very balanced and projective compared to others

I bought these for a parlor sized acoustic to replace done lifeless coated strings. You get great vintage tone - excellent for finger style blues.
