I use a variety of strings because I think certain guitars sound better with certain strings. I use EXP 16's on many of my guitars so I thought I'd give these a try on my Martin CEO-7. I'm not impressed. Strummed with a pick they have a certain resonance. The mids aren't bad. To be kind I might call the strings mellow. To be more accurate I'd say the overall sound is sound muted, dead even. There's no sparkle or bite. The high E is lost. They may work on some guitars but they don't work for fingerpicking blues on this guitar. The original strings on the guitar Martin Lifespan PB. Not a huge fan of Martin strings but they sounded much better on this instrument.

      D Addario Nickle/Bronze acoustic strings

      By Drew

      from Texas

Comments about D'Addario NB1253 Nickel Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I've been playing guitar for 45 yrs & used every string made (it seems like) but I swear I can't figure out what these strings are good for besides bailing wire. I'd never put em on an acoustic. I figure the nickel/bronze was SUPPOSED to facilitate magnetic pic-ups in acoustics. If so the trade off cancels everything else out. They sound dead right outta the gate & the .10s I put on my resonator feels more like .11s or almost .12s. Reso usually aren't THAT particular by mine HATES these things. I hate changing strings TWICE IN ONE DAY.

Repackaged Electric Strings for Twice the Price

      Pros

        Cons

        • Dull Sounding
        • Feels rougher
        • Looks like an Electric Set. I prefer acoustic

Comments about D'Addario NB1253 Nickel Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I put these strings on my new Taylor GS Mini and was extremely disappointed with the tone, feel, and appearance. I've used Daddario strings before and these appear to be an answer to Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze strings, but they do not hold a candle to those in both projection, clarity, and appearance (subjective unless you like a silver set on an acoustic). Daddario generally make great products, but these feel flat for me.

My guitar sounded bright with most other strings I tried but these ones sound warm and increase bass and mid range frequencies. The harmonics are nice. Love these strings.

Comments about D'Addario NB1253 Nickel Bronze Light Acoustic Strings:

I love D'addario's acoustic strings on my acoustic guitars so I decided to try this on my resonator. The strings sounded good but the G string sounded "dead" within a week of light playing. I had the local guitar tech look at the guitar and took it all apart just to find out the string was broken. I tried again and the same result happened. This time it lasted 2 days of light practicing. I hope other guitarists don't experience this issue; these strings are completely unreliable.

Been playing guitar since 1965, and have tried many brands and owned many guitars. My current axe is an Eastman AC312. and these strings really sound great. I mic record with them and could not ask for a more balanced and dynamic range.
