New from NAMM 2016 - D'addario Nickel Bronze Strings

D'Addario

Description

The D'Addario NB1152 Nickel Bronze Custom Light acoustic guitar strings, the first nickel bronze strings from the celebrated string maker. The NB1152 set is engineered to bring out the unique character of your acoustic guitar. The nickel bronze alloy produces clear, focused tone that magnifies the sonic qualities of the wood. Combined with D'Addario's NY Steel cores, these strings provide unparalleled resonance, outstanding projection and harmonically rich overtones. The NB1152 set is the premium uncoated string for players seeking to unlock their guitar's natural voice.

Nickel Bronze Wrap Wire Enhances Natural Resonance

The NB1152 set features nickel bronze wrap wire designed specifically for acoustic guitars. The innovative alloy adds warmth and depth without coloring the tone, allowing the natural frequencies of the guitar's wood to ring through. The result is a crisp, balanced sound with shimmering high end and a throaty midrange. Compared to traditional phosphor bronze strings, the nickel bronze produces superior clarity and definition.

NY Steel Cores Improve Tuning Stability

At the core of the NB1152 strings are D'Addario's NY Steel cores, chosen for their durability and ability to hold pitch. The high-carbon steel cores are precision drawn to tight tolerances, reducing string breakage by up to 13% compared to traditional plain steel cores. The corrosion-resistant cores also have enhanced magnetic properties for a wider range of tone when used with magnetic pickups. Overall, the NY Steel cores provide a stable tuning platform for the nickel bronze wrap wire.

Custom Light Gage for Playability and Volume

The NB1152 set features a custom light 11-52 gauge that balances tone, playability and volume. The lighter top strings are comfortable and flexible under the fingers, while the heavier bottom strings provide a robust bass response and driving sound suitable for a range of musical styles. The custom light gauge also helps the nickel bronze wrap wire reach its full tonal potential, allowing the alloy's resonant qualities to blossom.

Premium Features at an Affordable Price

As part of D'Addario's new premium string line, the NB1152 Nickel Bronze Custom Light strings deliver high-end performance and tone at a price accessible to players at any level. Built in the USA using state-of-the-art materials and manufacturing techniques, these strings uphold the renowned quality standards that have made D'Addario the world's largest string maker. Outstanding strings.

I've been changing strings for a long time. Started out with D'Angelicos back in 1968, did Martin for a short time until Dean Markley, then stuck with them for a long time till they started getting hard to find, went to D'Addario phosphor bronze for the last ten years or so. I got a set of these Nickel Bronze last week. I play a lot, and they still have that new string 'ring'. Big E is usually the first string in the set to go from a new sounding 'N' ring to the tone dead 'M' sound of old strings. No string prior to these have had the enduring 'N' sound on the four wound strings after a couple of days, much less a week. I play out on the weekends, a solo act, and use a Yamaha Silent Guitar. It's an acoustic pickup with zero wood tone, all electronic and string. I run it through a Line 6 HD500X, Boss RC30 Looper, into two Roland Street amps. I can come up with some pretty tones for rhythms, and crunch where needed for leads and cover stuff, and these strings make everything better, clearer, brighter. I haven't tried these on my acoustic yet. But I'm going to. Now if they could just sell them for five bucks, they'd be perfect.

I use em on Fender electric-acoustics and they get just enough warmth to sound good with the Amp with some effects. They are super easy to slide with and last for a long time. I have been using them for almost around 2 years now and dont look at switching any time soon for my guitars.

  • Fantastic strings

These are fantastic strings I use them on my Fender stratacoustic and they sound great unplugged or plugged in just as you would want from a high quality set of strings. They provide all the rich warm tones you look for and they are very comfortable on your fingers with the right amount of slide.

I've been looking for acoustic strings that would work with my new Godin Multiac steel which has a piezo, a mic, and a lipstick pickup. I also have a Godin A6 with a piezo and a humbucker. Read reviews on DR Zebras - some good some not so good. D'Addario has recently come out with these nickel bronze strings and I thought they might do the trick. They do give my Multiac a more acoustic sound and the PU signal is as strong as ever. Haven't tried them on my A6 yet but I expect they will perfrom well on that one also. Only had them on a week and haven't plyed a gig with them yet so I can't comment yet on their longevitiy - hence the 4 starts. If they work as expected they'll be 5 stars for sure.

  • Great strings!
