I really like these hybrid gauge strings. It allows you to have the heavier 3 bottom strings of a set of lights or 10's with the three higher strings with the gauges you would find on a set of 9's. Makes for easier bends and what not while not having to 'totally' drop to a lighter gauge of strings.

I like to use these strings on my Fender scale instruments. They give me the flexibility I need on the treble strings without the bass strings being too floppy. I can get enough flexibility using "10's" on my Gibson scale instruments. As a professional guitarist (I play hard), I change my strings at least once a week, so even though these strings do not keep their tone as long as others may, lower price is my major reason for purchasing this brand.

I play between 6-8 gigs a month at 4 hours a gig in a local country band. I used to swear by 10's but they tore my hands up but the end of a second night of play. Switching to the 9-46 strings was a great compromise and provides the best playability for leads and tuning to drop D on some songs. I have tried many other brands of strings but I always come back to D'addario for their tone, consistency, and value. The color coded ball ends are an added plus when changing broken strings quickly on a set break. Thank you D'addario for continuing to make a quality product!
