D'Addario

Description

The D'Addario EXL120 Nickel Super Light electric guitar strings are renowned worldwide as "The Player's Choice," D'Addario strings are the go-to choice for guitarists seeking premium tone, feel and intonation. The EXL120 Super Light strings feature nickel-plated steel for a bright, articulate tone and effortless bending. With gauges from 09-42, these strings balance tight, defined lows with singing highs. The strings are easy to bend and very flexible.

Nickel-Plated Steel for Distinctive Bright Tone

D'Addario winds the EXL120 strings with nickel-plated steel wrap wire, which produces a crisp, clear tone with enhanced harmonic content and definition. The nickel plating also improves corrosion resistance and tuning stability. These strings pair perfectly with brighter-sounding guitar pickups for a tone that cuts through the mix with clarity and detail.

Ultra-Light Gauges Enable Fast, Effortless Playing

With extra-light gauges from 09-42, the EXL120 strings practically play themselves. The slinky feel and reduced tension make complex chords, speedy riffs and wide bends a breeze. These gauges are ideal for shred guitarists, hard rock players and anyone looking to maximize playability. The EXL120s tune quickly and hold pitch reliably through rigorous playing.

Three-Pack for Maximum Value and Convenience

This three-pack of EXL120 Super Light strings provides exceptional value, enough strings for multiple setups or to share with bandmates. The resealable clamshell also helps keep unused strings fresh until your next string change. My strings at a great price.

I have used these same strings on all my guitars for more than ten years now. I like them and have really learned to really appreciate them. At the price I got them for I picked up nine sets this is the most economical way to buy them. So whenever these strings go on sale in ten packs I usually pick up a box of ten packs, works out to a little over three dollars a set and with free shipping can't go wrong.

Torn between 3 and 4 stars

First, the good - these strings sound amazing and stay in tune very well. They take very little break-in time and have out-of-this-world tone. Now, the bad news. These strings break easily. I've read other reviews that state they last forever and can bend to Timbuktu and back, but, I'm not experiencing this. I'm going through about a set a week, primarily with the E string. I'm not hard or abusive, but I do bend. Also, I'm religious about cleaning them. Having a Floyd Rose makes it quite the task for changing them. The E breaks while the other strings are still like new, so now I have "extras" for all the other strings. Even if they came with an extra E, the breaking still will cause quite the inconvenience.

If you use them you know. I don't change strings until they break. I never think Oh, they are sounding dull I better change strings. And you can get them in most music stores.

I have been using these 9-42 strings on all my non-Les Pauls (SGs, Strats, Teles, other) for many decades. I switched a number of years ago, but then I came back to them when the alternates were not as good (should never have left). I use the same string for my Les Pauls too except they are 10-46 (not 9-42). They always sound good, stay in tune, and last a good long time. #sweepstakes

You could go ahead and spend double the price for guitar strings (which are probably made in the D'Addario factory) and you still wouldn't find a better string.

  • Cheap strings. Can't go wrong with them.

Needed to refresh my 20 guitars and didn't want to spend a fortune on strings. Great value and good sounding.
