collapse expand iconDescription

D'Addario EXL110 Nickel Wound Light strings are world renowned as the choice of professional musicians in all genres for their ideal combination of tone, flexibility and longevity. Made in the USA, EXL110 strings are precision wound with nickel-plated steel, which produces a bright yet warm tone and significantly reduces fret wear. The gages of 10-13-17-26-36-46 are balanced for most electric guitars and playing styles.

Nickel-Plated Steel Provides Signature Tone and Durability

EXL110 strings are wound with nickel-plated steel, which gives them their distinctive bright yet warm tone and protects frets from wear. The nickel plating is an ideal complement to the steel, enhancing clarity and projection while mellowing higher overtones for a balanced tone. This material combination also provides corrosion resistance and consistency through extreme temperature and humidity changes. Overall, these nickel-plated strings simply sound and feel better, delivering the tone and playability that has made them legendary.

Precision Manufacturing Ensures Consistent Quality

As the world's largest string manufacturer, D'Addario has perfected the manufacturing process to ensure consistent quality and performance in every set. EXL110 strings are made in the USA using state-of-the-art computer-controlled winding equipment to guarantee each string has the proper gauge, flexibility, and tension. String cores and wraps are also carefully monitored to match specifications precisely. This strict quality control, combined with premium materials, gives players the confidence in knowing each EXL110 set will have the tone and intonation they desire for their instrument and style.

Versatile Gauges Suit Most Guitars and Playing Styles

The EXL110 set features gauges of 10-13-17-26-36-46, a versatile range balanced for most electric guitars and genres. The lighter top strings provide clarity and flexibility for intricate solos and rhythm playing, while the heavier bottom strings have enough tension for solid bass tones. This combination of lighter and heavier gauges in one set allows all musicians to achieve their desired tone, regardless of guitar type or musical style. For a heavier option, D'Addario also offers the EXL120 Super Light set with gauges of 9-11-16-24-32-42.

Ditched the Slinkies

I've used Ernie Ball strings for almost as long as I've been playing electric guitar, mainly because most of my guitar heroes play them. However, lately I've found that product less than satisfactory and decided to try out a different brand. Whether I'm buying these strings or the premium NYXLs, I've been very happy with D'Addario strings for all of my electric guitars. They stay in tune very well, retain their fresh chime for much longer, and I find that I don't break them as often. D'Addario strings have been my electric guitar strings of choice for almost a year now, and I will happily continue to use these strings for the foreseeable future.

My first set of D'Addarios...

And I can't lie, I'm pretty disappointed. I bought one pack of these at my local GC exactly one week ago today, having used other brands in the past. By no means am I a brand snob, so I decided to give these a shot. In the seven days that I've had them, I've played around 2-3 hours a day on average consisting of mostly practice. I have pretty oily skin and sweaty hands, and it's caused these strings to full-on rust already. I know that these aren't coated or treated strings, but I've had experiences with other brands that hold up better and last longer with my skin. And with rust, comes a dulling in the overall tone of the strings, which I also wasn't a fan of (they weren't as bright as I would prefer, and sounded a bit muddy through my amp). Even though there are plenty of cons in my opinion, these strings do have a pretty good feel (pretty slinky and easily bendable [standard tuning, 24.75" scale] with little finger drag) and they tune easily, staying in tune once you take the time to break them in. I'm not going to be one of those stereotypical reviewers who berates a company and says their product is terrible. They played well, but the durability and tone just weren't for me.

These were the first strings I ever bought and ai have been using them to this day. Great sound and incredibly affordable (especially if you get the three pack). The light gauge is just right, and most of the time I can get 7-8 months of regular play before they start to struggle with tuning and sound. Would definitely recommend to another.

I have had several sets of new strings for my mid 80's Peavey Horizon II, but these D'Addario nickel wound string have me wanting to keep playing the old girl. I get great strat sounds on the neck and the bridge. I will be getting a few more sets for my others guitars. Guitar center always has great stock.
