D'Addario

Description

Classic electric guitar string tone dates back to the 1950s, when pure nickel was the primary alloy used. As the need for brighter tone and higher magnetic electric guitar strings grew in the '60s, nickel-plated steel became the industry standard. D'Addario's EPN120 XL strings feature nickel-plated steel, but these XL Pure Nickel strings offer a warmer, vintage tone alternative which many enthusiasts prefer.

pure nickel strings. I like them way better than Gibson, Ernie Ball, Fender, etc. The price is reasonable and the tone is great if you are looking for the sound of any records made from 1954 to 1969, all the way from Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry to The Beatles and the Rolling Stones these are the strings they used, nickel plated did not come in until almost 1970. Great vintage sound. Wonderful playability and bendability.

I was looking for some warm sounding strings that were easier on on fretting hand. I was playing D'Addario chromes, but gave these a try. They were everything I hoping a far as tone and ease of fretting.

  • If you want that true classic rock 'n' roll sound and feel...these are the strings to do it!

I'm so glad that D'Addario created this product! I was using the Dean Markley's George Lynch pure nickel strings. But they discontinued making them. Luckily, D'Addario seemed to have picked up right where they left off. I'm nothing but absolutely happy to have the tune and playability that I desire from these strings!
