D'Addario

Description

The D'Addario EJ17 Phosphor Bronze Medium Strings were introduced in 1974 and have since become an industry standard for warm, vibrant acoustic tone. Musicians of all skill levels choose these strings for their impressive durability and balanced sonic profile suitable for any genre or playing style.

Phosphor Bronze Alloy for Optimal Tone and Playability

D'Addario was the first company to utilize phosphor bronze alloy in acoustic guitar strings. This pioneering design provides a blend of warmth, clarity and projection unmatched by standard bronze strings. The phosphor bronze wrap wire is precision-wound over a high-carbon steel core, delivering flexibility, sustain and brilliant tone for many hours of play.

Computer-Controlled Winding for Consistency

The EJ17 strings are wound using state-of-the-art computer-controlled technology. This process ensures consistency in gauge, tension and tone for string sets and between different packs. The result is an acoustic tone you can rely on and come back to time and again.

Versatile Medium Gage for Balanced Tone and Playability

With gauges of .013-.056, the EJ17 medium strings provide a versatile blend of tone, volume and playability. The medium gauge offers more tension and fuller tone than light strings but with more flexibility and comfort than heavy strings. This balanced set is an ideal all-purpose choice for most acoustic guitars and playing styles.

Legendary Quality and Durability

D'Addario is renowned for quality, innovation and tone. The EJ17 strings are built to withstand hours of intense practice and performance while retaining musicality and playability. When you choose D'Addario, you choose strings you can rely on.

Beautiful tone

I've been buying these over the past year out of the 6 years that I've been playing and I don't plan on ever switching to any others. They have such rich and dark bass tones as well as bright and lively mids and treble. They allow each note of a chord or riff to be clearly heard making fantastic tones for any style or player. They last for quite a long time, retaining their tone. I like to use them for playing in alternate tunings such as dadgad, allowing me to bring out melodies where I want them. Over all fantastic strings for anyone looking for ways to improve their guitar quality.

Not as durable as they used to be.

Had multiple strings break during different live sets. Very annoying and even worse that multiple sets in the pack were bad. Would not recommend these anymore.

I buy D Addario EJ17 first. They're my standard - I'm never disappointed, no matter which guitar I put them on. I may experiment with other brands and compositions, but the EJ17s will be here and ready with their consistent sound.

  • Been playing for 50 years and these strings are the best!

Any advantage to mediums as opposed to lights?

    Open Reply - Ronald
It all comes down to feel. If you're building up calluses the mediums would be better on your fingers, but they will also take more pressure to press them down so your hands wold fatigue more easily.
