Decent instrument, junk "outfit"

I purchased this with gift cards - you'd be better off taking your $800ish dollars to a real shop. The case and bow are throw-aways but the violin itself is decent after being set up properly... when I got the violin the pegs were tight with no compound, bridge was in the wrong position, gut/tailpiece not set up correctly and it was unplayable. I got the setup close but will be taking this instrument to my local luthier for a once over. If you know how to set up an instrument or are willing to pay a luthier this violin isn't bad at all and has fairly good sound after the issues are corrected. Factor in the cost of a bow and case.
Clean rich sound.

I love this fiddle. This was my first time purchasing an open box instrument from Guitar Center and I have no complaints. I had the fiddle shipped to my local store in case there was anything wrong but there wasn't. Fast shipping, great customer service and I save a decent amount of money by buying an open box. I have a really cheap fiddle I was trying to learn on and even after multiple upgrades to it I still couldn't play it. Upon getting this one I have advanced rather quickly due to the ease of playing. I cannot comment to much about the sound compared to other fiddles but I love the way this instrument sounds. Over all I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Beautiful violin that sounds as amazing as it looks!

I bought this violin as a backup for my late 1800s Mirecourt. I travel between two locations due to my job and was tired of lugging my violin on a plane every few weeks. Well, now I have a bit of a problem because this violin is kinda sorta my favorite right now. I didn't want it to be this way. I also have a student violin, which I was using as my backup, though it was not up to the task so I decided to buy another one. I did NOT expect the SV-800 to be so amazing. The SV-800 sounds fantastic with a nice rich, warm tone. It contrasts with the strong bright tone of my Mirecourt. This violin responds very well and all notes are spot on and crisp. The spacing of the strings above the fingerboard is exactly where I would expect them to be. Not only does it play extremely well, it looks quite amazing too.

What case comes with the violin. If I don't like the case can I get the case from the Cremona SV 700 violin
It's the Cremona soft case. You can purchase another case, but we aren't able to remove the case from this bundle. It comes sealed from the manufacturer.submitted6 years ago

Will you describe the sound of this violin as clear and shining rather than bright?
I feel that's a good way to describe it. A good couple steps mellower than Brightsubmitted6 years ago
