Great Beginner Guitar

Great for a beginner (or anyone, it's a great guitar - but as a beginner I'll speak to that side). The nylon strings are easier to press down on than regular steel strings (also super easy to strum with or without a pick) and the small size / super light weight makes it easier to practice at home, travel with, take to lessons, etc. Softer, gentler sound than a regular guitar (sounds "pretty" even when you're a beginner still making a bunch of mistakes -- this was crucial for me to want to keep practicing and not annoy myself or the neighbors too much). Recommend for campfire, singer/songwriter, folk, pop, soft rock, regular rock songs (open chords, gentle strumming or fingerpicking), maybe not metal / power chord songs. Doesn't have the darker tone of other classical guitars I've tried (I consider a good thing). Pretty much what it looks like - your standard accoustic guitar, just smaller. You'll have to get used to telling people it is actually a real guitar not a ukulele.
Works fine for my purpose

I've been camping and doing a lot of road trips. I need a small guitar to bring along in my small RV. Of course I can't compare its sound quality to my other full-size guitars but this Cordoba Mini is great for this purpose. I love it.

WITH A FULL SIZE NECK IT MAKES IT EASY FOR A BEGINNER TO LEARN AND TRANSITION ON TO A LARGER GUITAR. SOUND IS DECENT ENOUGH TO KEEP A CHILD INTERESTED. PERFECT SIZE TO TRAVEL WITH AND NOT WORRY ABOUT.
OK when improved with high tension strings

Wake up Cordoba. It should ship with high tension strings. SOunds and plays incredibly better.

My kid's fingertips are soft and sensitive. She refused to practice guitar lessons on other 3/4 guitars because steel strings are too sharp, plus 3/4 guitars are too big and heavy for her. Finally, I found this Cordoba Mini at the local Guitar Center. This Mini guitar is light, easy to carry, and has nylon strings, but it sounds just as wonderful as a full-size guitar. So, I traded in one 3/4 size guitar and added some money to get this Cordoba Mini. Everyone is now happy. The kid can learn. The teacher can teach. I feel good of the right decision to get this Cordoba guitar for my kid.

I am left handed. They did say it could not be turned to a left handed (?) Does that mean I can not invert the tuning so I could play it (left Handed) just like a regular right handed? Thanks much.
You would have to flip the strings around and possibly change the nut to get them to fit.submitted8 years ago

When I purchase this guitar, will I have to tune it myself or does it come pre-tuned?
This comes with the manufactures set up. However, I would still recommend that you tune it and make sure it meets your specifications.submitted8 years ago

can it be changed to left handed
unfortunately no, this model just comes in a right handed version.submitted8 years ago

Would warping be an issue since this one does not have a truss rod?? Thanks
Warping is still possible, but as long as you keep it away from weather extremes you should be alright.
