Cordoba C5 Nylon String Guitar

Yamour - Cordoba C5 Demo by Tavi Jinariu

Description
The Cordoba C5 nylon-string classical guitar is a full-size handmade instrument using time-honored Spanish techniques. At its heart is a solid Canadian cedar top that produces a balanced, resonant tone ideal for nylon strings. Its mahogany back and sides further enhance the C5's tonal depth and projection. A pau ferro fretboard and bridge provide a smooth playing surface for intricate fingering and clear note definition. Traditional details like an all-wood inlaid rosette, pau ferro binding and a hand-carved headstock reflect Iberia's dedication to craft. With its warm, rich voice and comfortable playability, the C5 is a guitar you'll cherish for years to come.
Solid Cedar Top Unlocks a Warm, Nuanced Voice
The Cordoba C5 owes its balanced, resonant tone to a solid top made of Canadian cedar, a lightweight wood prized for instrument soundboards. Cedar responds well to the nylon strings and light touch of classical technique, producing notes with a warm, rounded quality and long sustain. Its broad dynamic range allows for subtle variations in attack and expression. Whether played delicately or vigorously, the C5 sings with a voice as warm as its all-wood craftsmanship.
Handcrafted Mahogany Body Resonates With Depth and Clarity
The C5's mahogany back and sides provide an ideal tonal complement to its cedar top. Mahogany produces a resonant, balanced tone with clear note definition and a tight low end. Together, the cedar top and mahogany body create an instrument with depth, warmth and nuance that suits the nylon-string classical repertoire well. The all-wood construction and traditional fan bracing system further enhance the C5's tonal projection and harmonic richness.
Playability Refined for Artistry
A rosewood fretboard and bridge provide a smooth playing surface for intricate fingering and clear note definition. The C5's nut width and string spacing are sized for classical technique, allowing space for complex chords and rapid scale work. Whether performing tremolo passages or voicing lush harmonies, the C5 handles with ease. Its comfortable body and fretboard radius inspire long practice sessions developing artistry and technique.
Traditional Spanish-Inspired Details
Details like an all-wood inlaid rosette and a hand-carved headstock reflect the C5's traditional Spanish-inspired design. Built using time-honored techniques, the C5 embodies Iberia's dedication to craft.

Best bang for your buck
I owned one of these as my first >50 dollar classical and played it for several years before giving it away. I am about to buy another. The tone is very soft and warm and carries very well. You can coax a lot of volume from this model, although the tone can wash out a bit if you are playing very softly, but hey, it's not a 5000 dollar concert instrument either so... I don't believe it is possible to find a better guitar for this price range. I love the cedar top sound.

Bridge Unglued
This guitar sounds fantastic, but the bridge keeps coming unglued. I have had two of these within 2 months do this. I keep it in a consistent 70 - 72 deg Fahrenheit with a relatively low humidity (probably 40%). I don't know if it was just a bad shipment or what, but I swear I haven't exposed it to any temperature swings or direct heat. Just store it in the gig bag it comes with. Guitarcenter has replaced it once no questions asked now I have to bring back the last replacement too. Their ProCoverage Warranty certainly has helped me feel better about this, but I just want to play. Anyone else experiencing this with one purchased late 2009 early 2010?

I've been learning the guitar for less than a year now and the Cordoba C5 has strings far enough apart that I do not get frustrated over muting strings as I did with the steel string acoustic I have. I am focused on learning the basics and will move over to the steel strings when I feel comfortable. So great for learning and maintaining the enthusiasm to continue to learn l.
This instrument is superb

The sound is exellent. Though I have not been playing long, I find this a good fit for classical music as well as instrumental.

First classical guitar. After doing research, I added this guitar to my "wish" list. It seemed to be a good balance between price and quality. So far, I am impressed with the overall construction, look, and sound. The only "con" is that the fret ends are a little sharp.

This does not come with a case. Packaging is done by the manufacturer and is typically put into another package for shipment. If this arrives damaged, we can take care of you with a return. Thanks!submitted5 years ago

Does this guitar come with a set of strings on the guitar, packaged separately, or does the guitar not come with strings at all? I placed an order for this guitar a little while ago and purchased strings as well. The guitar has shipped, but the strings have not. I'm mostly wondering if the guitar comes with strings so I know if I can play it or not once I receive it. Thank you!
