I use this for not only my performances with my group, I also do DJ work and it works there as well. I needed nothing fancy, just a solid working unit for lighting the stage or the dance floor, and this unit meets those needs,
I would buy this product again and again.

I knew when I got the whole package that the reviews on the controller were not good. The controller works as advertised, and is really solid. The only downside is there are three modes - slow, fast, and sound, and none are that exciting. There is also a speed control. The SLOW (first) setting should be redesigned to be 'all on'. If you use it - all it does is turn on one light? If it sequences at all it really is SLOW. The 'fast' or 'normal' middle setting sequences thru all lights at whatever speed you set. Not a bad effect, just boring and annoying after a while. The 'sound' setting sequences lights based on hearing the music. I suppose wedding DJ's used this? IF this box allowed all lights on it would be a better value - as it is I just use a simple power strip for each tower and I'll sell the controllers to a Jr High dance committee or wedding DJ. The light stands, and par cans etc. however are really nice and worth the price. Very solid, all lights worked out of the box. Easy to set up. I just don't care for the controller.

The controller works great, but in the timed mode, it takes too long to change channels. The slowest setting in chase mode works better. The unit works very well in audio mode. The mike is very sensitive, and it changes between channels randomly, so the effect is great! I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants a great light show for very little money, and you don't need to have someone monitoring the unit.
Great For Those That Want To Focus On Music Only

I used this controller for the first time last night. It is great for those DJs that do not want to worry about flipping switches while in the mix for their lighting effects. Just hang it to your lighting truss and let it run for the night. You can either use one of the pre-program settings with varying speeds, or you can let it run and follow the beat of the music. However, once you decide how it runs, you cannot really change it if it is hanging on your lighting truss for the night. It's features are limitied in the sense of control during the night, but the students at are dance never noticed! But if you want to have a great light show without having to worry about controlling your lights while beat mixing, then this controller is a good deal instead of buying an eight-switch controller for double the price!
