Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 - Sonic Sophistication

Charvel

Description

Charvel's ultimate in sonic sophistication and design virtuosity is the Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HH HT CM electric guitar—a summit of modern Charvel vibe, power and performance. Beginning with their iconic body shape as a starting block, the innovative Charvel design team sculpted even more dramatic curves for enhanced ergonomic comfort with this model. The alder So-Cal Style 2 body features a scalloped lower back bout and shredder's cut heel for easier upper-fret access and hours of practice and performance. A graphite-reinforced bolt-on maple neck offers rock-solid stability, while a heel-mount truss rod adjustment thumbwheel makes for quick-and-easy neck relief tweaks.

Engineered for effortlessly nimble and highly expressive playing, the Charvel So-Cal Style 2 has a speed neck profile with hand-rubbed urethane finish on the back and a 12"–16" compound radius caramelized maple fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets, pearloid dot inlays and GraphTech TUSQ XL nut. Luminlay side dots provide players with guidance along the fretboard on even the darkest of stages.

Built for unparalleled performance and versatile sound, this Charvel is equipped with multi-voiced Fishman Fluence Open Core PRF-COC pickups for layered, dynamic tone—from quintessential hot-rodded humbucking tone to an overwound single-coil tone. A two-way mini toggle allows players to switch between the two voicings, while a tone control with push/pull activation bypasses the mini toggle to active the third voice. With the three-way blade pickup switch and volume control knob, the tonal possibilities on this Charvel are virtually endless.

This model also features a Charvel HT6 string-through-body hardtail bridge with brass saddles, providing endless sustain with laser intonation, as well as Charvel-branded sealed die-cast locking tuners and standard strap buttons. This model also features a reverse licensed Fender Telecaster headstock.

I use this guitar through a 59 tweed kit pushed by an Andy Timmons bb preamp and a Holy Grail reverb. The Charvel plays and sounds great. If you are looking for a more modern Tele style with multiple tones this is for you!

what I like, neck is straight as can be, perfect shape, great feel no fret buzz, action good, but did need to raise the middle strings some to match radius of neck what I dont like, fret work, nothing sharp, but you can feel them still, file marks on most all frets, (biggest dissapointment) the satin finish leaves marks very easy, not scratches, but marks that will not wipe off split coil pickups can play most any genre ok, but none great. White inlay dots on a maple neck blend in and hard to see, the luminate dots on side are cool, but will not glow very long, not a fan of the locking tuners, once a string is on dont take it off or you probably cant get it back on and need a new one. Over all aesthetics are not real important to me, and I guess I can finish the setup and fretwork myself, but for the price, and no case I expected way more attention to detail for the fret work, it's like they stopped after getting them level. Out of the box when I first played I almost cried, but the more I dial it in the better it gets

Everything about this guitar is fantastic. The only issue I have is that I expected more character from the Fluence pickups. Bright, High output and handle distortion well. clean and light over-driven tones are sub-par... In my opinion, that is.

I purchased my satin black Pro-Mod in May 2021, and haven't touched any of my other more expensive electric guitars that I really like since then. The weight, ease of play, setup and voicings on this guitar are awesome to me and for the money I think that this was a steal. The only thing that I think that would have made this a perfect guitar for me if there is such a thing would have been stainless steel frets. I would buy again and recommend this guitar.

I use this for teaching, practice and for my own pleasure. I love the fit and finish, the belly cut, and the arm cut. I like the Roasted Maple neck, the wide varieties of tones that the Fishman pickups provide. The neck has 24 frets that are easy to reach. It comes close to a Fender Tele sound, but this guitar has more tone options for most genres of music.

I waited nearly 3 months for my Charvel and it was worth it. Love the variety of sounds from the Fishman Classics. Neck is perfect for me, and super fast.
