Chapman Ghost Fret Pro Limited Edition Bad Blood
Description
Chapman Ghost Fret Pro Main Features
Satin-finished solid ash body C-shaped maple neck with neck-thru construction, Indian ebony fretboardDual Chapman Alnico 5 Primordial humbucker pickups, 3-way toggle, push/pull coil-split
Hipshot Grip-Lock tuners, hardtail bridge, strap locks
Iconic Body Style
The Ghost Fret body is made with solid ash, a wood that takes finishes well. In this case the finish is a limited-edition Bad Blood. Only 130 will be made in this style, and they’re only available at Guitar Center. The body has a rear tummy cut for comfort.
High Performance Neck
Chapman chose maple for the neck. It is satin-finished for speed. Neck-thru construction provides maximum resonance and sustain. The Indian rosewood fretboard has a 13.75" radius—flatter than most electrics—which makes bending easier. Rolled fretboard edges also contribute to comfort.
Powerful Pickups
The Ghost Fret Pro has dual Alnico 5 Primordial humbuckers. Thanks to the heavy-duty Alnico 5 magnets, these ’buckers are high-output with a deeper bass and a stinging-but-smooth treble response. Single-coil sounds can be activated via the push/pull coil-split on the tone knob.Super-Stable Hardware
A string-thru hardtail bridge keeps the vibration of the strings in close contact with the body, providing more sustain. String changes are made easier with the Hipshot Grip-Lock tuning machines. Thread the string through the hole, tighten the thumbwheel and you’re done. Feel free to swing the Ghost Fret Pro around your body 360-style: strap locks are standard. The Chapman Limited-Edition Ghost Fret Pro in Bad Blood is further spec’d out with glow-in-the-dark side dots, jumbo stainless-steel frets, GraphTech nut and 500k tone and volume pots. It comes with a hard case.

Not Worth Money

The guitar to the untrained eye might look really cool, but if you start looking, some stuff jumps out at you and smacks you in the face. The one I ordered had filler in several spots, and paint drips in others. On a painted guitar the filler wouldn't be seen but on something with open grain like this it stuck out like a sore thumb. Then in a few spots there were drips of red where they shouldn't have been (was pretty obvious). Out of the box the guitar was horribly out of tune. Tuned it up and it had fret buzz on the low E and the B string sounded "dead". I'm guess the guitar needed a complete setup and likely intonation was way off, but Chapman claims these things are playable out of the box; not from what I saw. The pickups on these leave a lot to be desired. Muddy blah. There's another company by a famouse musician that makes a line of guitars in the exact same price range. I bought one of those, one that has the same shape as this one, and that guitar is insanely nice and a great value. This Chapman is overpriced by about $300-400. The various issues also mean that I won't bother with another, but I'm definitely going to use my return money to pick up another Schmylde Schmaudio.
This guitar made me build a studio.

I love this guitar with my whole heart. The first day I owned it, I played it for six hours without realizing it. It makes me WANT to be a better guitarist and I practice every day because of it. The finish is amazing, the feel of the neck is addictive, and I could seriously gush for days. I've been playing for 18 years between BC Rich's, Gibson's, Deans, PRS, and the company I started with- Fender. This guitar stands right beside them and (in my opinion) with better equipment (ehhh maybe a little soft on the pickups). Kudos to the Chapman family. I can't stop playing music again.
Worth it.

This guitar is absolutely amazing. Chapman has blown it out of the water. Forget anything anyone has ever said about Chapman Guitars and get your hands on one of these to try it out! Silky smooth stainless frets and blazing hot pickups(which are capable of crisp beautiful cleans thanks to coil splitting) send this guitar to the top! Let's not forget the looks either. This Ghost Fret is a thing of beauty and the satin finish feels AMAZING! The locking Hipshot tuners hold tune amazing and are easy to use.(my first set of locking tuners so I may just be blown away about that, but still very smooth and very well made) The included hard case is well made and is stylish as well. The cubbies are accessible while the guitar is in the case which is a plus that non of my other cases can do. Conclusion? If you're looking at a Ghost Fret Pro, limited edition or not, get it. The limited edition's Swamp Ash body with Maple neck through design has absolutely amazing tone and the sustain is awesome.

First off - alot of reviews state this is swamp ash and that's not correct, It's an ash body. Picked this up as it's got an awesome finish and it's a limited run. It plays beautifully and set up straight from GC was good. I was disappointed with the pick ups, especially high gain tones - They just weren't crisp sounding and had alot of transients I didn't care for - especially when when doing any type of gallop style grinding or pal muting. I fist tried a black winter pick up in the bridge position - it was better, but still lacked the definition I was after. Tried a bare knuckle Raganorak in the bridge - and it's now my favorite guitar - sounds absolutely crushing now. Lesson I learned was the guitars already bright as it's an ash body - needed a pick up with lower high eq voicings to really shine. Very happy with the purchase - though wopuld be cool if Chapman offered a better pick up in the pro models. Other than that build quality and specs are awesome.
Don't expect this beautiful finish to last long...

The finish was rubbing off after only 20 minutes of playing, which is especially egregious given that the appearance is a huge draw with this model. Everything else about the guitar seemed great; the guitar was ever so slightly neck heavy, but the body shape allows you to use it for leverage to keep it in the right position. However, further research revealed that Chapman guitars have been plagued with quality control issues, so I suppose I dodged a bullet in noticing the defect so soon.
