Celestion G12K-100 100W 12" Guitar Speaker 8 Ohm

I own two Marshall MG50 CFX amps and this speaker has gone into the second. The first one got the same treatment and it turned out so nice I did it twice. All I can say is if you want your MG50 CFX sound "brown" like Marshall's are famous for, this "transplant" will get you as close as any pedal out there. I have a Fender Stratocaster and I was limited to using the clean channel. Now I can use " crunch" and "od 1" without the harshness that was there with the stock speakers. Not only that, the amps are now plug"n"play which makes them ideal for jamming. When I did the first amp I was blown away. The second one was icing on the cake. The only drawback is the weight because now they almost weigh the same as the 100 watt amp but I'd do it again in a heartbeat because they sound so good. Bottom line: I'd recommend this procedure to anyone who owns an MG50 CFX. YOU BE BLOWN AWAY BY THE DIFFERENCE. It's like night and day.

When I got the idea to swap speakers I wanted to get more of a Marshall tone out of my 50 watt Marshall MG50 CFX. I was shocked at the difference. My amp sounds like a Marshall now and I couldn't be happier. The amp is now ready to plug'n'play whereas before I needed to use the clean channel with a "dark matter" pedal to approximate the sound I was hearing in my head. This is the second time I've done this "transplant" and, like the first time, it went smoothly start to finish. But as I said before it is a Celestion speaker going into a Marshall amp-kind of a no-brainer. I would definitely recommend this "transplant" to anyone who wants that "brown" tone out of their Marshall because even if it's made in Vietnam there's still a Marshall amp in there. I can't imagine how much it would improve the tone of a vintage one but I'm guessing if you needed to replace the speaker(s) in one of those you'd have a real monster on your hands if you used the G12K-100.

Well this speaker replaces the questionable original in a Marshall 50 watt solid state amp. The amp sounds like a Marshall now. A great improvement. The clarity and responsiveness are what was lacking and now they're there. Gone is the harshness of the original speaker. The only drawback is the weight. The 50 watt weighs almost as much as the 100 watt now. Still it's a vast improvement and I would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact I'm going to replace the speaker in my other 50 watt Marshall the same way. The mounting is a snap because the factory used T-nuts and of course they line up. It's a Celestion going into a Marshall amp after all. So if you're thinking of doing this transplant I highly recommend it.

bought these in combo with v30's. They do have a good scooped like tone (not to scooped) and very great bass responsiveness and tightness. I'm not too fond of it's weird high end sizzle, also kind of seems stale sometimes for playing leads, very good for riffing. Extremely good for metal, I wouldn't use this for rock or classic rock type stuff though. My personal taste.

These speakers are all that I hoped they would be. Super loud and crystal clear. I put two of them in a 100W Fender Frontman 212 and they have made this amp into what it should have been from the factory. These are the ones to go with if you want that classical Celestion sound that kicks butt when played loud and still sounds great at lower volumes.

This is a nice loud full sounding speaker, with a sparkle on the high end. I just did a big concert and the sound man said he loved it.
