Carl Martin Compressor / Limiter - Comp Pedal Review

Description
General Guidelines on the use of the Compressor/Limiter:
Threshold: Working anti clockwise, determines how much of the signal will be compressed. This is also dependent on how much signal is fed from the instrument.
Comp: Working clockwise, determines how much compression is applied to the signal allowed by the threshold setting.
Resp: Working clockwise, determines the attack/release times, going from slow to fast. In general, if you want to hear the compressor working with a crisp attack you should use slow times. If you require silent limiting, you should use fast times.
Gain: Working clockwise, sets the overall gain.
Busy: Indicates the amount of compression being applied, even in bypass mode. The brighter it gets, the more compression is being applied.
Ruggedly built by hand in Denmark.

Studio Grade Compression For The Gigging Musician

Follows Whammy in my signal chain into Diezel and Friedman half stacks, all lava van de hul cabling. Custom Shop PRSs, LPs, and Strats. The only compressor model I have purchased twice. Truly I have tried all of the greats, and modders of the greats - this compressor outmatched them all; it is amazing in its ability to moderate virtually any level of compression desired without adding noise, over or inconsistent limiting, and most importantly to me, does not require resetting between humbuckers and single coils. Many other pedal board-style compressors I have tried always colored my sound, this one does not whatsoever. Carl Martin products are outstanding, and are not excluded (like 200 other vendors) from coupon usage. This is a no brainer. No, I am not an employee either.

The unit itself is the build like a rock, smooth and consistent in its compression, and a pleasure to work with. It's one of the few compressors that doesn't sound like it's pumping or apply tone. The true bypass it great and the fact that it uses true 110AC instead of a wall wart power supply, to me, is a plus.
Best in any class!

The Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter is far and away the best in it's class and in fact outperforms quite a large number of the rack-mount "studio-quality" rigs. I have a few rack-mount compressors and this kills them for all but vocals. I've tried the usual kick suspects (Boss, Digitech, etc) and the versatility of this box leaves 'em all behind (the construction alone does that). The construction is bombproof, the power supply is built in (attn:,um, all other pedal pushers on the market!!). I run a Mesa Dual Rectifier (filth) and a Fender Blues Deluxe (clean, and punchy slide)(+ a few other effects on a Furman board with a PRS Custom 24, some Fender Strats and Tele's, and ESP Baritone (ooof, particularly punishing with the Baritone!). Put this at the front of your chain (Whammy excluded) and you won't get better attack/response for the money. Worth every penny, period. No I don't work for the company...I just wish I did.

is this a plug-in device or does it use a battery and include an ac/dc adaptor?
