Carl Fischer Larkspur and Rubies for Marimba

The great percussionist Evelyn Glennie has commissioned well over 100 new works over the years, and has embarked upon a special commissioning project, 50 for 50, in celebration of her 50th birthday. Each of the works is to be for solo instrument and of 50 bars only. Ewazen chose the marimba as the instrument, and a duality for the musical aspects. He notes, "Larkspur is the July birth flower, Ruby is the July birthstone of my dear friend, Evelyn Glennie. Dedicated to her with love and fond appreciation." For advanced performers.
