Amazing sound, amazing for rock/metal

This is amazing!!!!! I bought this over 6 months ago, and it is still makes godly sounds, and is built like a tank (figures, it's Boss brand). I use this to play the heaviest metal, or even general rock/alternative like Muse, and even Green Day. This pedal is versatile too, and VERY loud if you want it to be. Go out and get one if you play anything rock/alternative or metal. Just GO FOR IT :D Make sure to get the cable to plug it into the wall (like most all pedals, it burns through 9volts fast; every 5 hours or so of playtime). A Great buy, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

ehh.... not what i was looking for.

I arnt to gc to test out pedals, this being my number 1 in mind. I first tested the metal zone since the guy at gc said its better. I tried both out and the metalcore was just missing something, and the metalzone seemed perfect. I sat there testing both over and over messing with all the knobs and got the metalzone to get an even better distortion. I was glad to figure out the metalzone will be my choice. But as I walked out I heard a guy playong a bunch of metal rifts and he was using a hardwire pedal. I went and tested it out to find that its exactly what I was looking for. A lot of people say metalcore and others say metalzone, its all your opinion, but if your looking for something that you can really change distortion check out the hardwire tl2. If your not sure like I was go to gc and see what's best for you

This is the pedal I have been looking for and am sick I did not try it sooner especially at the price point. Paired with a GE-7 on my clean channel I get a great metal sound. I have tried many distortion and OD pedals to get the chugging sound I was looking for, some on the clean channel and some on the dirty but none have come close to the sound I have dialed in. Love it!

Excellent distortion pedal. Harmonics fly and the sound quality is perfect for all ranges of distortion. One thing I did notice is that I had to roll the high almost all the way off or it's gets to much treble. No matter. Rolled off the high and it rocks. There is still high frequency in the tone but not so much that it takes over. Best described is that you pair this pedal with a quality chorus and you have George Lynch tone.

  • Great Pedal for Rock/Metal/Blues

Forget about the Metal Zone and all other distortion pedals if you play Metal, Rock and yes...even Blues, just try this this pedal first. I was looking for a "gain" pedal to use on my clean Mesa channel when using the Digitech Trio. I went through several, Metal Zone, Power Stack, Mega Distortion, then came to this Core pedal and it was the winner. Like to mention that the Mega is also a great sounding pedal, but when you want more gain and bottom end the Core will deliver. Take the gain down and with a Strat you get some great blues tones.

I bought this pedal back in 2014 as a graduation present for myself. I had a cheap Marshall solid state combo and was looking for a way to get heavy high gain tones. I eventually sold this pedal to a neighbor ut for the 2 1/2 years of owning this I would say it's not too bad. It has tons of gain you cam get into death metal territory. It wasn't overly fuzzy sounding as long as you didn't max out the gain (I had the gain knob a little pass noon)> The low knob adds quite a bit of punch without making your tone muddy. My only problem was it had so much treble that it was ice picky sharp. I had to basically turn the knob almost all the way off just to get it sounding good. Also this pedal isn't too versatile IMO, it just has so much gain where its not good as a clean boost, but this is a distortion pedal with the word METALCORE in it so that shouldn't be much of a surprise. If you you're on a budget and cant afford a good high gain valve amp, this wouldn't be a bad purchase. Just know that you'll be fighting with the treble knob and for the price you can get a better pedal so I'd suggest getting this used if planning on getting this.

I got this pedal almost 7 years ago and it still is better than any other distortion I've tried to date. Nothing really else to say but it's worth its price x10. The only problem I have is that a rubber piece broke that lines the hole in the pedal that the knob goes through, but I fixed this by flipping the piece around and putting it back in. I forgot what it's called, but it's a really easily replaced piece.
