This is one of those condenser microphones which is ideal in so many situations and has an outstanding noise floor and really robust output. Very high signal-to-noise and incredible high end detail. Lows down to deep bass are quite satisfactory - meaning you don't need a big condenser to get low notes.

I really wish I grabbed more of these before they went out of production. I have only used it so far for recording acoustic guitar but it is incredibly detailed and the diaphragm size and pickup pattern make it great for mitigating any sound that isn't coming from your source. I have a bedroom studio next to a very street and my recording computer has an unfortunately noisy fan, but even then I am able to track the guitar with absolutely no noticeable noise. Really great microphone. The accessories that come with it are also great (Blue does a particularly terrible job with pop screens and mic clips/baskets so it was nice they did this one right.) Finally, the swivel head is awesome if you're a one man recording operation, because it allows you to fine tune mic placement/orientation without necessarily having to adjust the whole mic stand.

used in ORTF configuration for field/nature recording (huge roaring waves, lapping water, morning bird/insect ambience, howling wind) I really liked the way natural echoes, ambience and stereo space was captured. especially distant birds in valleys. Self noise was never an issue even with high gain. Easy to go to XY or other modified angle with swivel heads to capture a vivid and 3-D stereo soundscape. A DIY wire-frame blimp and dead wombat worked to prevent overload from wind gusts. Some sort of mid-high-frequency hyping going on (I could see where some might call these paper or brittle) but, this crisp character and detail worked for me. I'm sure there are better SDCs, but if you get a hold of a solid pair of these, the swivel capsules are super functional and chances are if you can't do it with these... you're not going to do it.
