Easy-Access Auto-Lock Spring Adjustment

Gone are the days of overly complicated tension adjustments. The FP9D features an easy-to-reach auto-lock spring adjustment with an internal ball bearing. The ball bearing allows the piece to move back and forth so it's easy to quickly reach down and adjust on the fly. It also clicks as you're turning. This ensures each adjustment is even, accurate and completely dialed in.

Heavy-Duty Frame and Key Ball Bearing Placement

The FP9D is built like a tank, but drives like a Bentley. The heavy-duty frame stands up to even the hardest hitting lead foot with excellent stability. This along with key ball bearing placement ensures there is no wasted energy in a player's strokes. The solidness of the frame and smooth ball bearing movement guarantees consistency whether they're playing fast and loud, or quiet and controlled.

Anti-Skid Heel Spikes

Most bass drum pedals have anti-skid spikes towards the front of the footboard. This design can lead to the pedal fishtailing at the heel and eventually coming loose from the bass drum hoop. The FP9D's spikes are placed further back at the heel. This gives the spikes better leverage to dig in and get secured.

Weight-Adjustable Beater

Yamaha's beater weights give the idea of a weighted beater a new and stylish twist. Adding weights to your beater can help increase foot speed and strength, or just give you a better feel to your bass drum stroke. The FP9D includes steel and brass horseshoe weights. The weights slip on just below the beater very quickly, allowing you to change the feel on the fly. You can even put both on together.

    These are the smoothest, fastest and best looking double pedals I've owned. I had the flying dragon for 15 years and this is why my upgrade was another set of Yamahas.

    Yamaha never disappoints I took a gamble ordering it. I couldn't find anywhere in Michigan that carried these pedals to check them out before buying. So glad I made the choice to order them. Great pedals and I cannot wait for the matching Hi Hat Stand. Highly recommend these to anyone looking for a new pedal.

    This pedel is amazing. I had compared it to my DW 9000 which at the time was my favorite pedal ever when I tried this one. It had the same power, but it was smoother. I felt like I could do more notes easier and quicker. I definitely recommend This pedal

    I recently purchased this pedal to try out the direct chain technology. I am a professional drummer and have always used chain driven pedals. This FP9D is definitely worth it weight and more. The response and tension is perfect for speed and accuracy.

    I've always been a fan of Yahama drums and hardware (my four kits all feature Yamaha hardware) but not so much their pedals. I've always found their footboard a bit small for my liking but this pedal has me sold. With a larger footboard, multiple adjustment features and the top shelf craftsmanship and durability I've come to expect from Yamaha this pedal checks all the boxes for me. It took me a little while to dial it in with all the multiple adjustments. At first, I set the beater 45° from the drum head and the footboard 45° from the floor with a medium spring tension but it still didn't feel quite right. This is when I realized you could adjust the direct drive cam lever by either moving it towards you or away from you by way of a rail at the top of the pedal with three different settings. Moving the cam/drive link all the way forward gives you an even stroke throughout the range of motion while moving back, towards you gives you more power and leverage at the end of the stroke right before the beater hits the head. The in-between setting in the middle of the rail gives you an even stroke with just a little more wallop at the end of the stroke. Out of the box that rail was set all the way back. I didn't like the feel of that but.when I set it in the middle setting the perfect balance was achieved for my liking. This is easily the best pedal I've ever owned and I've owned plenty throughout my 46yr career. Most recently, DW 9000, Iron Cobra, Speed Cobra, Tama Dyna Sync, and Gibraltar direct drive 6700 series. The feel, durability, ultra quite, natural feeling transfer of power, and ease of adjustments are second to none in my book. Bravo Yamaha, May this be the last pedal I ever purchase!!
