Reviewed as an inexpensive guitar. Good buy for the money.

For the money, this is a great deal. First thing to note is the C neck and normal 42mm nut width vs an Affinity 40.6 and shallowest neck. If you have medium to large hands, the Bullet neck feels better than the Affinity. It is also fine for smaller hands, as not a wide neck at all. I love both my Bullet Strat and Tele necks. The only glaring flaw is that the pickguard is not cut centered. It is about 3/32" off beside the bridge but the bridge and neck are centered. The color is so awesome, I'm replacing the pickguard anyway. Probably Aqua Pearl D'Andrea. The action came set low, but the saddles were not set close to correct, vs my new Bullet Telecaster. Simple to adjust. The tuners are way better than the old "hexed" trapezoids. The truss rod is set for low action already. The satin neck and Laurel fretboard play fast. Frets are polished enough, and as to fret ends, many fretboards shrink in places like our dry Denver. Darrell Braun's YouTube technique for fret ends is dirt cheap. Or if you are into it, get fret files, but I didn't. Foam sanding block and super-fine steel wool. (Painter's tape over pickups or they will actually look like little pups. Fur real! (little iron fur). Fer real! (bad ferric joke) The sharp fret ends are a given, so no ding. I did a very cheap fret finish and slightly rolled the fretboard edges, and conditioned the Indian Laurel fretboard. The ceramic pickups sound fine for an inexpensive guitar. I changed the strings out, but the stock ones are fine if you are a student, etc. However, the protective plastic calls for at least loosening the strings. I wonder how many play this for a while before realizing it is (well-protected) covered with plastic film. I can see why Mike Rutherford likes them. An upgrade makes this guitar suitable for gigging. It plays great. I always prefer 21 frets on Strats, so liking that, too. It is noticeably lighter than my Fender Custom Shop Strat. Two thumbs up say buy it.

Some Scratches on Guitar, Looks Used

The guitar plays nice however it arrived with many scratches on it. It was not pack in it's original box and had bubble wrap around it. I suggest for Guitar Center to improve it's means on storing guitars. It's a bit ridiculous to receive a "new" guitar and it have scratches on it. They should be sold as used and for a cheaper price because it looks like it was used. I may go to another retailer for music gear due to this experience.

Had this for a little more than a year and could say it's definitely not the best but that's expected considering the price. But if you're just starting out I'd say give it a try before purchasing an expensive guitar. Overall decent for the price for a new player.

Guitar I got had scratches all on the front, nicked a bit of it during delivery, and there's also tiny dents along the neck. Won't be purchasing from or recommending at all. FIRST and LAST guitar I buy from you guys since packaging is a challenge.

  • A bit of a let down.

when received it had scratches all on the body. Even had a nick with multiple small dents on the neck. Keeping since I'm a beginner and this is my first buy. However not doing business with these guys ever if properly packaging product is a challenge. Good luck to anyone else though.
