Pearl

Description

Second-rate gear only makes your drumming journey harder. The Pearl Roadshow is not a toy or a hand-me-down. It's a complete drum set package with everything you need to start your rhythmic journey to the big time. Here are some things to look for when buying your first drum kit; see for yourself how Roadshow stacks up:

The cymbals, hi-hat and snare stands should start with a strong and well-balanced tripod base. Double-braced legs and interlocking tilter adjustments are also vital for keeping all parts of the kit in place under the pressure of performance. Roadshow's included hardware package is second-to-none in its class. All stands are dual-reinforced, height- and angle-adjustable, and feature double-braced legs to withstand the pounding onslaught of the heavy-hitting drummer.

The snare drum is the voice of the drum set and captures everything from the loudest accents to the softest "ghost" notes. With a matching shell and finish, the Roadshow snare is full of attack and power, yet sensitive enough for drumming at any volume.

The bass drum is the tonal heartbeat of the drum set and should not only set the low-end pulse for the groove, but be a foundation for the rest of the complete drum set-up. The Roadshow kick drum features an extended tension/tuning range for low, chest-thumping bass frequencies, and includes locking, slip-free feet (or "spurs"), and secure mounting for toms and accessories.

Roadshow's included cymbal set features a 16" brass crash/ride and a set of 14" brass/hybrid hats. Perfect for accents and timekeeping until an upgraded multi-cymbal setup is acquired.

I bought this to give lessons to the next generation. It's got a small footprint and challenges experienced drummers to do less with more. As the years go by I look forward to watching it grow like when I was going through school.

  • If I needed I would buy it again.

I was looking for a portable drum set for practice and gigging. First thing to do if you buy this set is to throw the stock heads away and buy some decent ones. I did keep the beater heads and put them on the resonant side which sounds fine. Snare reso head may need replaced as well as it's a little too thin, IMO. It's got a little too much reverb right of the box, but moongel should fix that. Second thing is to buy some decent cymbals, they really aren't good. The crash is acceptable if you have nothing else, but the hats are just brass dinner plates. Hardware is very decent, seems like it could last a while if it's well taken care of. Good stuff: Kick pedal included is very decent, responsive and easily adjustable. The toms tune really easily with hydraulic heads and they sound great. They also include lithium grease to lubricate the bolts when putting the kick and toms together. Really awesome! Not so good stuff: This thing needs a kick riser. The beater hits off center on the kick and gives more of a "whap-whap" sound instead of a "thump-thump." It's not terrible but the breakbeats kit comes with a kick riser, so why not this? It'd be more useful to have a decent kick riser than some cymbals that will need replaced sooner rather than later. The throne is bad, buy a better one asap. The hoop on the kick is metal instead of wood, small gripe but that can also be replaced eventually. Overall, very comprable to the breakbeats and sonor safari. A decent little jazz set.

  • Yes I would recommend to friends and or family!

Bought this set for a small church venue. Replaced the cymbals, added a crash, really improved the set. Great set for the price.

Got this for Christmas 2016 and couldn't be happier. As my first actual drum set, it has been serving me well. The only 2 things that I might complain about (which aren't even that big of a deal) are the cymbals sound obnoxious and the tom heads are too thin. These can be easily replaced by new cymbals and new heads, so if you are willing to make an investment, it is extremly helpful.

I want something that me and my 6 and 8 kids can play, we all are beginners. Is this the right one? The roadshow Jr. I bought was too little

This is a smaller than normal set. I don't know of a size that would work for an adult and a 6 year old.
