Pearl

Description

The Eliminator Demon Drive bass drum pedal was engineered to create the most seamless link between your musical ideas and your execution on a bass drum. Whether seeking to deliver lightning-fast blast beats or deep, rock-solid grooves, this Pearl drum pedal offers the adjustability to maximize your playing in any style.

Play a Pearl Demon Drive and the first thing you'll notice is its smoothness. The Demon Drive gets its incredible smoothness and speed through the use of ultraprecise hardware components. Self-aligning spherical bearings are used to insure the footboard and the Direct link drive are always in perfect alignment. Its zero-latency Z-Link Drive Shaft's U joints, and special super-high-speed Ninja bearings on the axles all work in perfect sync to create one of the smoothest and fastest pedals on the planet.

The most unique feature of the Demon Drive drum pedal is Pearl's exclusive Duo-Deck, the world's first convertible footboard. With a simple adjustment, the Demon Drive pedal can be adjusted from a traditional shortboard to a longboard pedal in seconds, offering a slightly lighter, quicker feel that is the preferred setup when speed is a necessity.

This bass pedal includes the world's first two-position Beater Stroke Adjustment and two-position Direct Link Adjustment. Both allow you to create a slightly lighter or heavier feel of the pedal depending on their preferred setting. Adjusting the Duo-Deck in combination with the Beater Holder and Direct Link Adjustments yields eight possible pedal configurations, allowing you to truly create their ideal feel.

The Click Lock spring tension system prevents the tension knob from loosening. The Traction Plate, which has aluminum traction dots, is fully adjustable for the amount of slip or grip you want . Its footboard height-adjustment capability enables you to loosen and rotate the footboard to the desired height. And finally, the Pearl pedal comes standard with a carrying case to protect it from the wear and tear of travel.

Note: Slave pedal may need stabilization with the PS-85 Pedal Stabilizer.

The best pedals ever made

I have taught double bass for many years. I have personally purchased several double bass pedals in the quest to find the perfect pair. I have performed many bearing upgrades on my pedals and my students pedals to make them more playable. I can honestly say that these pedals are the very best right out of the box. Once dialed in whatever is in your heart to play can come out of your feet without compromise. No matter what your style it is designed to adapt. Thank you Pearl!

THE DIRECT DRIVE SAGA

With the 12yr.old IC's getting older, I decided to go new. Direct drive is far from new (the 70's)but marketing has demands so re-enter the era.I think the reason these pedals went out in the first place is the lack of power. The demons are super smooth but cheap feeling under the feet.I don't care what any one says, they will NEVER feel like chain driven eccentric cams. These increase power as they approach the head which makes your job as the drummer easier. The directs assist with the rebound allowing for a quick second strike.I want both in a pedal and the demons are built for speed only.Problem is, chain drive doubles all have serious play in their linkage.Side by side with a Trick proV,the demons got smoked.Sorry Pearl lovers but it's true.Develop your technique and you can play on ANY pedal but it's either got power or it doesn't.Both have serious adjustments and I got the Trick to have power, couldn't with the demon. Both linkages are great with zero and I mean zero play. But the Tricks were better balanced(slave to master), smoother and yes, faster due to the compression spring.Sliding the track assembly back farther gave it chain drive feel with direct drive speed.I will have to get used to the Trick's quickness,it's that fast. Sorry Pearl, I can't believe all these people love your pedals...they are weak with only TWO beater stroke adjustments-1) fast and 2)heavy and slow, with lack of power in each.Nice features but my guess is they aren't really being used by endorsees.Axis has the variable drive for power and the Tricks are just absolutely ridiculously awesome all the way around. You decide but don't say you weren't warned. if you have to play Pearl, I'd check out the Eliminator instead.Otherwise Tricks will make your left foot stronger and is the closet thing I've experienced to a comprimise between direct and chained offset cam. No way Jordison REALLY uses Demons, no way...couldn't get that heavy strike like he gets with his Cobras(BTW, still great pedals).Don't believe the hype with the Demons.Try them next to a Trick, spend hours with both(for adjustments-you will need the time)and tell me I'm wrong.I hear Trick customer service is unparalled as well. Good luck with what ever you decide and rock on!

I have had DW pedals for the last 15 years. Really had no issues but wanted to try the pearl demon drive. Out of the box the pedal is extremely smooth and responsive. BUT, I wanted to test out the long-board version of the pedal. So, I followed the directions and converted the foot pedal. It was quick and easy but immediately noticed that the left pedal was not moving freely, there was noticeable drag on something. Took it apart and put it back in the short-board version, smooth as butter! Tried it again, back to long-board version, noticeable drag. It seems like something in the hinge but not for sure. Kind of disappointing for a "top of line" pedal. Gonna mess with it a little more to see if I can fix. Also, the carpet stabilizer attachment and the rubber traction dots are sold seperatley, LAME.

  • Good product but concered about longevity

Out of the box, this thing was great. I had no problem transition from my over 10 year old DW9000 to this pedal. I'm not a fast double bass player at all (at best 160bpm) but I am coordinated enough to use a double bass pedal for intricate playing and rudiments however. I wanted to try the latest technology in pedals so that's why I went with this pedal. After about a week of playing on it I noticed a loud 'clack' sound coming from the left pedal. There were 2 things wrong. The first was that one of the grip weight holes on the foot board was ever so slightly larger causing the little yellow weight thing to vibrate if my foot wasn't directly over it. Secondly, in the long board format, where the "demon drive" piece gets screwed in, I noticed it would creating this loud sound as if 2 metal pieces are being smacked together. I spent a good hour and half tracking down where the sound was coming from, and when I finally figured it out I decided to convert it back to short board. There were no issues there, except the little weight grip vibrating. Honestly for me that's a quick deal breaker. It doesn't give me confidence in longevity once I start adjusting everything. In addition to that, anyone who's ever recorded knows that those mic's pick everything up so your gear needs to be in decent shape. I will be returning these and exchanging them for another DW 9000. I will also be buying a Trick drive shaft to go with the DW pedal because I believe its the same as the one that comes with this pedal.

  • Most expensive piece of junk I've owned.

I play around 150 shows a year touring full time with a rock band. I always used DW pedals and decided I would give the Demon Drive Pedals a shot when I started playing Pearl Drums. I can honestly say, these pedals are the worst I've ever played. I've had numerous performances where I've had the beaters fall out during the middle of a song (yes I tightened them down before the show) and I've had the screw come out of left pedal on several occasions where the foot board connects to the the machines arm (normally a chain on the pedals that aren't direct drive). I've never been more frustrated with a pedal. I take good care of my stuff and I need something to can hold up to what I need it to for my job. Back to DW I go. Biggest waste of money ever.
