For a decade now, Ibanez has energized the hollowbody segment with a wide range of designs, from rockin hybrids to straight-up jazz-boxes. With the introduction of its new Expressionist line, Ibanez has begun yet another chapter in the story of its acclaimed Artstar series. Built with tonewoods selected for their beauty as well as their musicality, the Expressionist line covers the wide range of styles for which Ibanez hollow and semi-hollowbodies are known.

The AM93 features a Quilted Maple top; clean, handsome white binding on body, headstock, and fingerboard; and expertly crafted set-in neck construction to ensure body liveliness. The fingerboard is rich Rosewood contrasted by Pearl block inlays, set to a 3-piece Mahogany/ Maple set-in neck that has proven its reliability on thousands of Ibanez hollow and semi-hollowbodies throughout the years.

This was my first semi-hollow body guitar and I wanted something light. The finish on this guitar is outstanding. The neck is a little wider which I like and wanted on a semi. The hardware is very appealing also. I had to file down the saddles because I was breaking strings and the saddles all had rough edges. Action arrived playing nicely. One of the volume knobs had to be taken off and re-aligned. I use this guitar in a 9-piece horn band and the tones cuts through sufficiently. For the price, I am happy I purchased this guitar.

The AM93 I ordered and received is a guitar I had wanted for a year. I had wanted a semi hollow body for years but I had narrowed it down to this guitar for some time. When the time came and I was ready to buy there were none in the stores near me, let alone the black finish I wanted. I ordered through Guitar Center and it came pretty quickly, faster than had been quoted me. I felt comfortable ordering it without playing it because of the reviews I had read and the videos I had seen. There really wasn't one that had a bad thing to say. That out of the way, Now to the Guitar. She's a stunner! The wood grain with the finish and the gold hardware is beautiful. Not at all gaudy, it's elegant but approachable. It's hard to take your eyes off it when it's out of it's case. I own a couple nice guitars, a PRS CE and an American Strat Deluxe, and the AM93 is easily on par with the looks and surpasses them in my opinion. As far as comparing the AM93 to those guitars tonally I would put it like this. The strat is a thin sound. The PRS a thicker sounds. The AM93 is a "rounder" sound. It sustains for ever which can be tricky but it's a beautiful issue to have. Both positions of the hummbuckers are great up and down but I've been playing it mostly in the middle position with both Hummbuckers on. It's a versatile and warm sound. Even with heavy distortion, every note is audible. I love the sound! What is probably the biggest surprise to me isn't the sound or the looks. I knew they'd be killer. It's the fact that it's so easy to play. The neck is rock solid and it is just as easy to make a solo run as it is to play chords. The fact that it's not thick like hollowbody or larger semihollow, makes it more like a solid body to play but with all the benefits of the semihollow. It truly is a pleasure and for the price can absolutely not be beat. Having read in other interviews it plays like a $2000 instrument, I couldn't agree more. It simply plays, looks, and sounds better than the price tag would lead you to believe. I couldn't praise this guitar enough. The worksmanship, playability, and tone is crazy. I have a hard time putting it down. I've used it at a gig already with the band and it will easily be my new writing tool! Get one!!!

This guitar has the most luscious tones. It is fun to play, easy on the hands, and sounds like a $2,000 guitar. I originally filtered out the Ibanez line until a buddy told me what great reviews they have been getting. .. Boy was he right; unbelievable for the price.

A blemish means that the guitar has a minor scratch or dent. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing what the blemish is.

Gear returned in great condition, with only minor signs of use, such as slight scuffs or pick marks. It looks and plays like new and may be considered an equivalent to display units found in retail stores.
