Description

Made famous by The Beatles' George Harrison, the 1962 Country Gentleman is the sound of rock ‘n’ roll. The Vintage Select ‘62 Country Gentleman has the unmistakable sound and style that marked the beginning of a musical invasion. Sonically, this guitar is ready to tear it up with flexible tone that fits any musical situation.

A pair of TV Jones Classic pickups responds to every pick stroke or strum with refined, articulate tone. Traditional Gretsch controls—including per-pickup volume controls, master volume, a three-way tone switch—allow you to create countless tonal variations for a personalized tone. The new Gretsch "Squeezebox" paper-in-oil capacitors deliver silky vintage high end.

The standard U-shaped maple neck bears a 12"-radius ebony fingerboard with 22 frets and zero-fret for a memorable playing experience that works with any style. The sealed body with simulated f holes minimizes feedback while providing for authentically vintage tone. A pinned “rocking” bar bridge reacts in concert with the Bigsby B6GVT vibrato tailpiece for stable tuning while the bone nut lets the strings slide freely without binding in the slots.

A true rock ‘n’ roll classic, this guitar features the appointments that made this guitar a legend—dual foam string mutes with red felt surrounds, standby switch, laminated 3-ply maple top with simulated f-holes, gold “G Arrow” control knobs, aged white binding with black purfling, gloss urethane finish, aged pearloid thumbnail inlays, gold vintage thick plexi pickguard with Gretsch logo and gold Grover Imperial tuning machines.

It includes a hardshell case.

    Nothing sounds like a Gretsch, and the '62 Country Gentleman is the most unique of all. Wonderfully versatile, plays like a dream, and one of the most beautiful guitars ever made.

    This is a reissue, When these came out most strings had a much higher nickel content. Modern strings have more steel and make the pickups Too hot for my taste. Pure nickel wrap strings made a world of difference .

    As a child, I would watch Chet Atkins play this guitar on the Ed Sullivan show. I'm an old man now and bought my dream guitar. I love it. It's everything I expected, except I still can't play like Chet, but I'm still trying.

    The TV Jones pick-ups are wonderful! The craftsmanship is excellent. Built better than the originals back in 1962. I play this one more than my others, and I've got some awesome guitars.

    Great playing Guitar, However i didn't care for the Pickups. Everyone swears by the TV Jones but quit frankly they are to bright and doesn't give that classic Gretsch sound like i have in my original. after swapping out the pickups it was just like my original. Is Gretsch trying to go the way of Gibson trying to reinvent the wheel?

    I asked earlier today what type of strings were used on the Gretsch Guitars G6122T-62GE Vintage Select Edition 1962 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Hollowbody Electric Guitar Walnut Stain Item #: 1500000005245 I received an answer from you of (.009-.052). But I never heard of that configuation. I'm familiar with (.009-.042). Could that be what you meant and the .052 was a typo? Also what brand of strings did you use for this product?

    Are you referring to the Gretsch Guitars G6122T Country Gent with Bigsby Hollowbody Electric Guitar Walnut? This one has Scale length: 24.6" The cheaper has Scale length: 25.5". This one has Fret size: Vintage-style and the cheaper Fret size: Medium jumbo. This one has TV Jones Classic pickups and the cheaper High Sensitive Filter'Tron pickups.
