Incredible value !

it's really tempting to go with a Streamliner as their price point is really attractive, however, if you can swing it save up for an Electromatic. I was fortunate to get this during a sale and got an amazing price on it. That said, this is a great starting point into the Electromatic universe. The guitar is gorgeous - the deep blue looks black in most low light environments. The gold and cobalt blue look incredible and the overall feel of it is as smooth as you'd expect. This is made in China, not Indonesia as the website said when I bought it, but quality is really high. Just because it was made in China doesn't mean it didn't get loved. Out of the box, this guitar was easy to tune and start playing - the neck was straight, stock strings pre-stretched and only loosened for shipping. The bigsby works very smoothly although I did encounter some detuning if you go hard on the trem bar. If that's your playing style consider adding a Briggsfix Bigsby stabiliser and maybe Sperzel locking tuners (EZ fit) down the road. Overall - this is a smart purchase and a great starting point into owning a Gretsch. The stock pickups sound awesome and owning this as my hollow body really compliments my solid body and acoustic guitars.

This guitar is not worth the money

I bought this guitar because I love the tone. To be fair, I still do. However, I am extremely turned off to this instrument because of the awful craftsmanship. I unscrewed the strap buttons and what do I find? Rusted, stripped screws that are impossible to remove.

    I barely bought it today 2-1-26 and it's amazing! I love it so much! Originally I went to the store at Fresno blackstone guitar center to see if they finally had the grestch duo jet sparkling the gold one in stock but they didn't and I walked in and first thing I saw was the guitar!

    I play almost entirely solid body electric guitars. I'm a home hobbyist but have played for over 40 years. I wanted to try something different and this guitar caught my eye online. I went to guitar center and played it. Although made in China, it seems very well constructed and setup was surprisingly good. I have several hours on it now and it stays in tune even with moderate bigsby use. It's a stunning guitar and the contrast between gol and blue really pops. The pickups are unlike anything i have used in the past but they sound great. I am excited to learn some rockabilly.

    #sweepstakes Nice guitar. Easy to hold and play, not too heavy. Tremolo nice sound, good quality. Neck and frets feel good to the touch. Does require minimum setup. Good feel and great Blues guitar, very versatile. Highly recommend the roadrunner guitar case, it fits perfectly.

    General rock guitar, some blues and rockabilly. Installed locking tuners and now it keeps tune with Bigsby usage. Very comfortable to play, sounds great.

    Of course it went on sale the week after I bought it, and it was out of box, so I had nothing to take it home in, but it's a beautiful sounding and looking guitar. I would have liked the info that came in the box like the type of strings it's set up with, etc.

    I use my G5427TG in our church band when we need a little extra "soul" and I could t be happier. The Gretsch sound comes through on the pickups - not to mention it's a great looking guitar!

    1) G6241FT Hardshell Case. According to the internet there is a Gator and Roadrunner case that fit but I wouldn't recommend them

    With the vibrato tail/bar on it, is the guitar easy to tune to alternate tunings, like say drop D or a half step down (I know it's different but I have a Floyd Rose tremolo bridge on an Ibanez and it's almost impossible to use alternate tunings reasonably on it)?

    The Gretsch G5427TG comes with a Bigsby-style vibrato tailpiece, which is great for subtle pitch modulation—but it can introduce some tuning quirks, especially when switching to alternate tunings. Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect: The Bigsby adds extra tension and more moving parts to the tuning equation. When you change tunings (especially drop tunings or open tunings), it shifts the overall tension, which can slightly affect tuning stability as the Bigsby reacts to that change. The tuning stability with alternate tunings depends a lot on how well the strings move through the nut and over the bridge. Lubing the nut slots with something like GraphitAll or Big Bends Nut Sauce helps a lot. If it has a floating bridge (common on Gretschs), make sure it's stable—those can shift slightly when you detune or retune strings drastically.
