Description

The Limited-Edition Player Telecaster Plus Top is a great entry into the world of Fender—especially for new players—but its build quality and playability make it perfect for gigging pros, too. Sporting a gloss-finished AA flame maple top, this Tele is a real looker and equally outstanding when it comes to sound: dual Player Series single coils prove that the Plus Top can fit into any musical style with classic Fender tone.

Main Features

Gloss-finish solid alder body with AA flame maple top
Maple neck with Modern C-shape, maple fretboard
Dual Player Series Alnico 5 single-coil pickups, 3-way switch
String-through-body bridge with block saddles, vintage-style tuners

Body Construction

The words "flame top" are enough to get most guitarists salivating; the Plus Top uses AA-graded maple to full effect, dressing up this Tele into something truly special. The body is alder, a Fender mainstay since ’56. It’s a potent combination, and a rare one, too—make your mark with this Limited Edition while you still can.

A Neck Built for Comfort

The Plus Top has a maple neck with a Modern C-shape, a profile built with comfort and speed in mind. The fretboard is also maple, and with a 9.5" radius, chording and soloing are equally effortless.

Pickups with Real Punch

This Tele is loaded with dual Player Series pickups with Alnico V magnets. They provide vintage sounds with more punch, making your playing stand out onstage or in the mix. The classic Tele twang is still there, but it's updated for more modern contexts.

Rock-Solid Hardware

The Limited-Edition Player Telecaster Plus Top is outfitted with a string-thru design bridge, providing maximum transfer of energy from the strings to the body. The end result is more sustain, letting notes and chords ring out louder and longer. Six block saddles allow for precise intonation on every string—a boon for studio guitarists. Vintage-style tuners complete the package. All hardware is finished in nickel/chrome.

A Thing of Beauty!!

I've owned about 6-7 guitars in my life and this one right here has to be my absolute favorite! I wasn't sure what to expect since I ordered it online with the recent memorial day weekend sale. I have ALWAYS wanted a Telecaster, but since I already owned a Squire and an American Strat, I pushed it off for YEARS. I've been eyeing this beauty for about a whole year now, debating on whether I should get it and as soon as I saw the sale I jumped on it, and I don't regret my purchase at all! I'll admit that I have had buyers remorse in the past so this time I went to the store and picked it up trying it right on the spot. I plugged it in to a nice dual reverb and let me tell you, I was blown away by what I was hearing. The aesthetics of this guitar are just on another level, as soon as I saw it in person I was in absolute love---no joke---I don't say that very often, but it's the truth. The sienna sunburst finish just fits it absolutely perfect, the colors are amazing, and the wood pattern just stands out, personally I prefer rosewood over maple, but not on this baby, the maple neck stands out perfectly. I truly do feel like I lucked out on this particular guitar, it sounds absolutely heavenly and it looks Devine. The action is set up right on point and my hammer ons/pull offs/bends were butter, also It is such a light guitar that I honestly think it's the lightest guitar I've ever picked up. I do see only one flaw and those are the volume/tone knobs, one of the knobs came out a little rough on the top and both don't seem to turn as smoothly to my liking, however I think I can sand down the volume knob no problem, although for an expensive instrument I shouldn't expect that. I hope fender can do a better job on quality control, but hey, nothings perfect, right? Anyway, this was the absolute best impulsive purchase I've ever made and I'm so glad I did it. Highly recommend it for those who want a more standing out Tele than the standard paint jobs.

Bad day at the factory - Nail in body - Falling Apart

Even though it has so much wrong with it, there is still some magic to this guitar, I got the Sienna Sunburst and it was in the box so I didn't see it, till I opened it. First off "IF" everything else was good I would definitely keep it, even with the nail, (yes hammer and nail) in the body, it's in the top and I think it's really cool, don't know if it is from a sign somebody nailed it the tree they cut down or in production but it's cool. The bad: Tuners are crunchy and stick, the chrome job on the tuners is flakey. Jack is falling out. Fret's are sprouted, not a lot but still not over lockable. There is some fret buzz. The Good: Nail in the body. The tone is very sweet. Play it hard and it wants to bite your head off, it's got attitude. If Guitar Center or Fender would exchange the tuners with a good set, I would consider keeping it. Or if there is another guitar with the same Mojo I would exchange it.

Multiple chips and scratches. Pickup selector switch missing knob. Middle pickup setting doesn't function. Not a player plus tele as advertised, merely player series.

Anyone notice that the matchbook flame maple is not centered on the body for like 90% of these Player Plus tops? Both the Strat and Teles, especially the blue ones, are all off center. Out of 40 I've seen, only about 3 are centered. Was this a costly mistake at the factory?

  • I probably won't buy this product from Guitar Center again.

Very disappointed when I opened the shipping box and the guitar was wrapped in bubble wrap with no tags, some small scratches on the back of the body and a chip in the front lower body. The listing for the guitar said the condition of the guitar was NEW.

Bought this blue finish in the strat and tele. Took both to get set up. Both of them play great. I've always preferred tele but the strat has become my main player.

What's the weight of the guitar?

    Open Reply - Thomas
All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 7 – 8.5 lbs.
