Fender Player II Stratocaster HSS Maple Neck

Resonant Tonewood Pairing

This Player II Strat's tone starts with a foundation of classic tonewood combination—an alder body partnered with a maple neck. The alder's balanced timbre ensures lows, mids and highs all shine through with clarity and articulation. Meanwhile, the bolt-on maple neck construction enhances sustain and resonance. The gloss polyester body finish allows the tonewood to breathe while protecting against dings on the road.

  • Huge upgrade for me

I've been playing on a 13 year old Fender Starcaster that was already used when I got it. Upgrading to this was like moving from a clapped Impala to a brand new Mercedes. Overall tone difference is a game changer, much cleaner and warmer than my other strat. C-shape neck is my favorite thing about it. Knobs feel good. 5-way switch feels stout. I did notice a very faint ringing on my open G string, most likely would be fixed by intonation adjustment but you can't hear it unless you point it out.

The 3-color sunburst finish is gorgeous on the front and back. Well matched wood. The neck is well-finished and soft with a high-quality dark rosewood. The fretwork is solid with no sharp ends. Playability is really good after I lowered the bridge (just removed the back cover and tightened the spring screws a bit). Nice low action. All 3 pickups sound excellent from clean to crunch and in-between. The only negative is the lack of a gig bag - but luckily I have a couple of extras on hand. It compares favorably to more expensive guitars.

I was thrilled when this arrived, No buzz and stayed in tune right out of the box. Action was great and the tone is superb. Blues, jazz, hard rock, and even some light-weight metal with pedal. Definitely thinking about swapping the bridge with a higher output HB but that's because I'd like to experiment with some heavier music. Overall, very happy and would recommend this guitar for its pro feel and sophisticated sound.

HSS set up with rosewood fretboard. Rolled edges on the fingerboard. Premium wood. Mahogany body makes it heavier than most guitars in this price range but comfortable in your hands. The maple neck is another nice touch and premium wood. Sound is crisp but powerful. Huge improvement over my last guitar.
