Jim Root on his signature Stratocaster® | Fender
Description
The Fender Jim Root Stratocaster from Slipknot guitarist Jim Root's signature model built for huge, molten tones and fluid fretwork. Featuring a mahogany body and compound-radius ebony fingerboard, the Jim Root Strat delivers a thick, distorted sound perfect for nu-metal and heavy rock.
Mahogany Body Provides Powerful Tone
The Jim Root Strat's mahogany body gives this signature model a full, punchy tone that cuts through dense mixes. Mahogany's natural warmth and sustain help each crushing power chord and squealing harmonic ring out.
Compound-Radius Fingerboard Enables Lightning-Fast Playing
With a 12" to 16" compound radius, the ebony fingerboard on the Jim Root Strat offers a flatter playing surface for the lower frets and a more rounded shape for the higher frets. This unique design promotes fluid shredding across all 22 jumbo frets. The fingerboard's smooth ebony construction also enhances note clarity and articulation.
EMG Active Pickups Provide High-Output Tone
The EMG 60 in the neck position and EMG 81 in the bridge give the Jim Root signature model an aggressive, distorted tone perfect for heavy rock and metal. The EMG 60 produces a tight, focused sound for rhythm playing, while the EMG 81 delivers a hot, crunchy tone for solos and lead lines.
Modern Specifications for Comfort and Playability
With a thin C-shaped neck, oversized headstock and hardtail bridge, the Jim Root Strat offers a fast, low-profile feel. The neck's satin urethane finish enables smooth slides up and down the fretboard, while the hardtail bridge provides rock-solid tuning stability and enhanced sustain.

The Heavy Strat

I've owned and played too many guitars since 1991. I love the Jim Root Stratocaster. It is a Strat, but yet it's own thing...so different but somehow familiar. It's the ultimate metal guitar at least from Fender. It's made me put my Fender Ultras down. Love it! Thanks, Jim!
Really awesome guitar, simplicity at it's finest!

Really awesome guitar, simplicity at it's finest. 2 Great pickups, EMG 81 bridge, 60 neck ups, 3 position switch, one volume knob and hard tail bridge. Cleans up nicely and gets all the tones.
I would buy this product again and again

Honestly, I have a hard time picking up any guitar after having the pleasure of owning this strat for a good while. I bought it used at Guitar Center probably 5-6 years ago modified with Seymour Duncan black out pick ups. This guitar is unreal. It has an AMAZING tone and is super comfortable to play. The finish is absolutely gorgeous and understated. All my other six strings have pretty much sat on the rack since owning this guitar. If something were to EVER happen to this guitar I would scrape up every penny I could and buy a new or used one the same day.
Great Guitar!

I have never had much love for the Fenders I have owned in the past. I am too used to PRS guitars and humbucker pups. I've always loved metal and wanted a straight up metal guitar with EMG's. This guitar gives you the classic look of a Fender but the EMG's and flat black finish take it to the next level for me. I've had a hard time putting it down since I got it home. It of course has great distortion running through my OCD and Fender Deluxe Reverb but I was pleasantly surprised with how warm the clean tone was. Looking forward to gigging with this guitar, and definitely plan to have it in a regular rotation.
