Good for the money

I have been researching for a while, looking for an inexpensive but not cheaply built, acoustic guitar. Since I have been an electric bass player for a long time, larger acoustic guitars feel wide under my arms, so I prefer a thinner body Problem though is that the thinner acoustic guitars (i.e. travel/parlors) can sound brittle with little or no fullness to them. To balance out sound with larger instruments, guitar makers often use sharper sounding top woods, with resonant side and back woods. With smaller guitars however, it's naturally going to be tinny sounding so with the cc-60sce fsr, fender used all mahogany construction. This resonant wood is perfect for a guitar of this size as the mahogany sounds rich and creamy and you naturally get the highs, based on the design. I suppose that if you wanted more sizzle you could buy fancier strings. The built in transducer can dial in whatever sound you want, amplified. Along with the sound and feel under my arm, the neck and playability is what sold me. I prefer this neck over guitars which sell for more than twice the price. I'm not fighting the neck. Great looking, sounding and feeling guitar. Great at double the price.

Beautiful but a bit deceiving...

I bought this as my very first guitar so I don't have that much to compare it to but I do think what I experienced with this guitar is not standard. It's an extremely beautiful guitar and I always get compliments on it from other guitarists based on the appearance alone; however, it should be reliable too. When I first received it there was some damage on the rosette and the back so I had gotten a discount and I had also bought it while it was on sale. I had bought the floor model so that's what I anticipated. There was some buzzing on the 5th and 6th strings that weren't an issue of tuning or technique and that was kind of a problem for a while. I assumed you had to tune your guitar every single time but that's what I have to do with this guitar: tune every time before I play. It might go out of tune more frequently than others as another review stated but I had nothing to compare it to so I assumed that's standard. Before a year, the neck started to warp and when I play the first string second fret it would always touch down on the third fret. And when I say a year I had stored it in really good conditions/hard case and played pretty infrequently on it. It required a full setup and after the setup, it felt so much better honestly even easier to handle it always felt a little awkward in my hands before compared to other guitars I held. I know that the setup required adjusting the nut and hammering frets from what I heard. I've heard notoriously the Fender is a brand that has lots of neck issues and that the guitars that are being manufactured during the pandemic are not being quality controlled as well and might require full setup on top of the price of the guitar which might be around $70. So please keep that in mind if you decide to purchase. I haven't tried this guitar yet with an amp so I can't comment on that.

I just purchased this today. The review I just read here said that the color of the one he received was not what he expected. but he was still happy. Assuming that the color he was referring to, the color he expected, was that of the picture shown above when compared to the picture he submitted with his review, his having a darker tobacco cigar color, and then noticing that the pictures submitted by all the other's reviews were also showing a darker than the image above, image. Heads up. Fingers crossed.

  • Color not as expected but otherwise an excellent instrument

The guitar I received does NOT have the bright woodgrain shown in the photos. Instead it's a much more chocolaty brown color, which was disappointing. However, it has a great feel and sound, and the narrower neck is very helpful as I restart playing after several years and left finger injuries.

For its price it has nice resonance from the decent quality woods used. Can still sound a little tinny , and the finishing on the fretboard isn't perfect. Obviously the action is great, but can't yet speak to its resistance to warping

12". Nut width is 1.69". Not small but not large. We need to know how small and how short. It's very difficult without seeing the player

The Musician's Gear Deluxe Dreadnought Case would work well and be a good choice.
