Fender American Ultra Stratocaster | Isaiah Sharkey First Impressions

American Ultra Stratocaster | American Ultra Series | Fender
Description
The Fender American Ultra Stratocaster delivers a bold evolution of the iconic Strat. Its unique Modern D neck profile cradles your fretting hand, while the rolled fingerboard edges and tapered heel provide hours of playing comfort. A compound 10"–14" radius and 22 medium-jumbo frets mean effortless soloing across the neck. The Ultra Noiseless pickups unleash vintage Strat tone without the hum, and the advanced wiring options unlock endless sonic possibilities.
Ultra Noiseless Pickups: Classic Tone Minus the Buzz
The Ultra Stratocaster is equipped with a trio of Fender's Ultra Noiseless Vintage pickups, engineered to capture coveted vintage Strat tone without the unwanted hum and buzz. The neck and middle pickups provide warmth and depth, while the bridge pickup adds articulate punch. An S-1 switch blends the neck pickup into positions 1 and 2 for thicker in-between tones.
Modern D Neck: A Fresh Take on a Familiar Profile
The Ultra Stratocaster's Modern D neck profile puts a contemporary spin on a traditional Fender shape. Its slim, rounded back satisfies players accustomed to a typical C or D profile, while the rolled fingerboard edges supply hours of buttery playing comfort. A silky satin urethane finish allows your fretting hand to glide smoothly up and down the neck. Combined with the contoured heel, the Modern D neck makes higher fret access effortless.
Compound Radius and Medium Jumbos: Built for Speed and Precision
A compound 10"–14" radius and 22 medium-jumbo nickel frets grant the dexterity and accuracy needed for everything from cowboy chords to frenzied soloing. The flatter 14" radius at the nut lets chords ring clearly, while the more rounded 10" radius at the bridge provides an ideal surface for string bending and vibrato. Medium-jumbo frets offer a familiar feel and height for most players.
Premium Appointments: The Details Matter
High-performance touches abound on the American Ultra Stratocaster, including a bone nut, sealed locking tuners, chrome hardware and a two-point synchronized tremolo bridge with bent steel saddles. It also includes a deluxe molded hardshell case to safeguard your investment when not in use.

Very nice; but...
First off, I'll say that the instrument plays awesome, and required little adjustment out of the box. It is probably one of the best playing and sounding Fender products I've owned in over 20 years. The neck, frets, and nut were spot on. The pickups are fantastic - really! I play mainly heavier music, and this fits right in the mix - If you want super heavy, it will do it. Play a bit lighter or turn the volume down, and it cleans right up - I can hear every string ring out when playing more complex chords when the gain is up, so don't let the "single coil, noiseless" description scare you - And I use Friedman amps exclusively...If you want Jimi tones; it's there. If you want Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/AIC; it's there too - Along with pretty much anything from the last 50 years that would be considered rock. I would say that besides the finish flaw issues, this guitar is just as nice as my trusty #1 LP Standard, and way more versatile/comfortable to play. My only gripe is when the instrument was painted (ultraburst), they did not allow the base coats to dry properly, and resulted in the base coats cracking the entire length and width of the body both front and back. You can not see this unless holding up to the light, and moving it around a bit, because the finish coat (clear) hides the flaw when it is in a stationary position... One would of thought that Fender QC would of caught it? For this reason only, I have requested an exchange. Hopeful that the next is issue free. Besides that, it is an excellent, 100% pro level item.

A Strat I can finally keep

The neck… amazing! These new noiseless pickups are the first ones they got right. Love this guitar. Don't think I'll ever use the s2 switching, and I originally wanted the s/s/hb, but I really like the position 2/4 on a Strat. People say the noiseless pickups don't sound like a Strat, but I can nail srv tones with ease on this guitar. So…. Up to the player I suppose. The neck though! It needed a setup, then it was good to go. Don't think I'll change a thing!

Because now I don't want to play any of my other guitars! I went back and forth between the Pro I and this, and finally decided on the ultra. 100% would not change that. The neck feels incredible, the guitar sounds great, looks stunning, I can't put it down. The main sale was the neck feel. Cannot get over. If you're on the fence, don't be. 100% worth it.

I play blues for my personal enjoyment along with country. The effortless action of the neck along with tonal voice should explain it all.😎

There's a great guitar that will fit just right for everyone...."the one" - this particular Ultra Strat, is that Strat for me! I've been thru way too many Strat's over the years from MIM to Custom Shop and none of them was 100 percent it for me - I reiterate, "for me". The only thing I imagine that could possibly make this model even better would be a Nitro finish on the body. To my ears, these are the best version of Noiseless Pickups Fender has cooked up! The tone in every position is a joy to play. The neck! Oh man! - the neck is so sweet.... the rolled edges, neck shape, fretboard radius and beautifully cut bone nut! I dialed in a superb buzz free low action very quickly! Mine is nice and light at 7lbs 6 oz. Very alive unplugged. Great sustain - very resonant. STAYS IN TUNE!! Finally- a keeper!
